INFORMATION FOR PATTERN:

GARTER STITCH (back and forth):
1 ridge = knit 2 rows.

STRIPES:
Work entire shawl in stripes. Work 1 ridge with green/beige and 1 ridge olive/rust/plum *, repeat from *-* the entire piece. Do not cut the yarn between every stripe. Let the strands move up along the side of piece but make sure that they are not too tight.
----------------------------------------------------------

SHAWL:
Work piece back and forth on circular needle. The entire shawl is worked in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above.
Cast on 3 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with green/beige and knit 1 row. Now continue to work with increases, decreases and STRIPES - see explanation above. Work as follows:
ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over and knit 1 = 5 stitches.
ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit all stitches and yarn overs. Switch to olive/rust/plum.
ROW 3 (= right side): Knit 2 together (loosely), knit until 1 stitch remains, 1 yarn over and knit 1.
ROW 4 (= wrong side): Knit all stitches and yarn overs. Switch to green/beige.
ROW 5 (= right side): Knit until 2 stitches remain, 1 yarn over, knit 1, 1 yarn over and knit 1. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
Then repeat ROWS 2 to 5 until there are approx. 221 stitches on needle or work to desired length (make sure to have enough yarn for cast-off).
To make an elastic edge, cast off as follows: * Cast off 2 stitches, make 1 yarn over and cast off yarn over as regular stitch *, repeat from *-* until all stitches have been cast off. Cut the yarns and weave in ends.
