GARTER STITCH (back and forth):
1 ridge = knit 2 rows.

See diagrams A.1 to A.6. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side.

Worked in 2 parts that are sewn together in the middle.

PART 1: Cast on somewhat loosely 81 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with Brushed Alpaca Silk. Work 2 ridges in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above. Work next row as follows from the right side: 4 edge stitches in garter stitch, A.1A (= 13 stitches), A.1B over the next 48 stitches (= 2 repetitions of 24 stitches), A.1C (= 12 stitches) and 4 edge stitches in garter stitch. When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 69 stitches on row. Then work A.2 with 4 edge stitches in garter stitch in each side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 63 stitches on needle and piece measures approx. 25 cm vertically. Work next row as follows from the right side: 4 edge stitches in garter stitch, A.3A (= 7 stitches), A.3B over the next 42 stitches (= 7 repetitions of 6 stitches), A.3C (= 6 stitches) and finish with 4 edge stitches in garter stitch. Continue A.3 with 4 edge stitches in garter stitch in each side until piece measures approx. 89 cm from cast-on edge – finish after 1st or 5th row in diagram. Knit 1 row from wrong side and LOOSELY cast off by knitting from right side - NOTE: It is important to avoid a tight cast-off edge - to avoid this make 1 yarn-over after approx. every 7th stitch WHILE casting off (cast off yarn-overs as stitches).
Knit another part the same way. Sew the two parts in the middle - sew inside cast-off edge so that there are 2 ridges in the middle of scarf.

= knit from the right side, purl from the wrong side
= knit from wrong side
= between 2 stitches make 1 yarn-over
= knit 2 together
= slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked
= slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 2 stitches together, pass slipped stitch over stitches worked together
= BOBBLE: Knit 1 in front and back loop of same stitch until there are 4 stitches, turn and purl 1 row from wrong side over these 4 stitches, turn and knit 1 row from right side. Use left needle and pass second stitch on right needle over first stitch, pass third stitch over first stitch and then fourth stitch over first stitch (= 1 stitch remains)
