GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle):
* K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows.

MEASURING TIP:
Measure when piece is flat, it is important not to stretch the piece when measuring.
--------------------------------------------------------

BODY:
Work in the round in garter st - Read explanation above. Loosely cast on 80-88-96-104-112-120 sts on circular needle size 10 mm with Ice or Eskimo. Work rib = K 1/P 1 for 5 cm, then work in garter st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
When piece measures 37-38-39-40-41-42 cm, insert 2 markers in the piece; 1 marker at beg of round and 1 marker after 40-44-48-52-56-60 sts. On next round cast off for armholes as follows: Cast off 2-2-3-3-4-4 sts on each side of every marker (= 4-4-6-6-8-8 sts cast off in each side). Finish each part separately.

BACK PIECE:
= 36-40-42-46-48-52 sts. Insert a marker at beg and end of row (where to knit up sleeves later). Continue in garter st back and forth until piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. Then cast off the middle 12-12-14-14-16-16 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue to cast off 1 st on next row from neck = 11-13-13-15-15-17 sts remain on the shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm.

FRONT PIECE:
= 36-40-42-46-48-52 sts. Insert a marker at beg and end of row (where to knit up sleeves later). Continue in garter st back and forth until piece measures 47-49-50-52-53-55 cm. Then cast off the middle 6-6-8-8-10-10 sts for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Then cast off on every row from neck as follows: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 2 times = 11-13-13-15-15-17 sts remain on shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew shoulder seams in front loop of outermost st.

SLEEVE:
Worked back and forth on needle. Knit up from RS approx. 30 - 40 sts between markers along one armhole (NOTE: Do not knit up over the cast off sts for armhole). K next row while AT THE SAME TIME adjusting no of sts to 30-32-34-36-38-40. Work in garter st for 3-3-4-4-5-5 cm, then dec 1 st (by working 2 sts tog) in each side of piece. Repeat dec every 11-8-8-6-6-5 cm a total of 5-6-6-7-7-8 times = 20-20-22-22-24-24 sts. Continue in garter st until piece measures 49-48-48-46-46-45 cm (shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of broader shoulder width.), then work rib (K 1/P 1) for 5 cm, cast off all sts with K over K and P over P. Piece measures approx. 54-53-53-51-51-50 cm.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew sleeve seams tog in front loop of outermost st to avoid a chunky seam.

CROCHET EDGE:
Work on hook size 10 mm around the neck as follows (beg mid back): 1 dc in first st, * 1 ch, skip approx. 1½ cm, 1 dc in next st *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 sl st in 1st dc, cut and fasten the thread. NOTE: Make sure that the crochet edge is not too tight.

Vicky 04.04.2019 - 23:15:

What happens to the 4 stitches not picked up under the arm please?

DROPS Design 05.04.2019 kl. 10:03:

Dear Vicky, they will be sewn together to the first top cm worked on sleeve. Happy knitting!

Windy 16.09.2018 - 10:41:

Brenda Drew 07.03.2017 - 00:56:

Sleeve instructions are confusing. How do you put the stitches around the armhole, on a straight needle???

DROPS Design 07.03.2017 kl. 08:57:

Dear Mrs Drew, you can work either on a straight or on a circular needle, your choice, sleeves will be worked back and forth. Pick up sts from RS between markers for armholes on front piece and on back piece, work in garter st and on next row from RS adjust number of size to the one give for your size. Happy knitting!

William 16.02.2017 - 00:04:

Could this be worked in a lighter cotton yarn for summer? Such as Drops Cotton Light

DROPS Design 16.02.2017 kl. 09:50:

Dear William, Ice & Eskimo belong both to yarn group E, you could then use instead 2 yarns group C - read more here. Happy knitting!

Marion Mauger 22.01.2017 - 15:24:

Bon tricot!

Helen 28.12.2016 - 14:45:

Hi - Where can I find a size guide for this pattern please? For example, would a UK size 16 be a M, L or XL? (or an XXL even!) Thanks!

DROPS Design 28.12.2016 kl. 23:03:

Hi Helen! How to choose the right size please see the lesson How to read a schematic drawing. Happy knitting!

Cristina 27.04.2016 - 14:05:

Buonasera, vorrei realizzarla in cotone, quale consigliate? grazie

DROPS Design 27.04.2016 kl. 14:13:

Buongiorno Cristina. Può usare i cotoni del gruppo A (Loves You 6, Loves You 7, Safran) lavorandoli a quattro capi, oppure i cotoni del gruppo C (Loves You 5 e Paris) lavorandoli a due capi. Buon lavoro!

Ineke Meijerink 22.09.2014 - 17:29:

DROPS Design 24.09.2014 kl. 17:08:

Hoi Ineke. Je kan vervangen door 1 draad DROPS Peak of een dubbele draad DROPS Paris. U kunt ook bij jouw DROPS verkooppunt vragen voor meer mogelijkheden.

Lynn 13.01.2014 - 15:39:

Can you please advise what yarn this is knitted in. Is it Chunky? Thanks

DROPS Design 13.01.2014 kl. 15:42:

Paprikana 26.09.2013 - 15:57:

Bon tricot!
