Gauge:
17 sts x 22 rows st st with larger ndls = 10 x 10 cm

Rib: *K 2, p 4*, repeat *to* [= right side rows].
Work k above k and p above p.

Garment information: The sweater is worked in 2 parts. Start at the lower edge on the front and inc/cast on for sleeves. The circular ndls will provide even distribution of weight when sleeve stitches are included.

Front: With 4.5 mm ndls and Alaska cast on 74-80-92-98-110 sts. P 1 row [= wrong side]. Then work Rib inside 1 edge st at each side. When the front meas 14 cm, ending with a wrong side row, change to 5 mm circular ndls [continue to work back and forth]. K the next row while dec 4-4-6-6-6 sts evenly spaced on the row to 70-76-86-92-104 sts. K the next row [= wrong side], thereafter work st st.
When the front meas 18 cm inc 1 st at each side every 4 cm a total of 4 times = 78-84-94-100-112 sts. When the front meas 34-35-36-37-38 cm work 1 p row from the right side and 1 p row from the wrong side. Insert a thread marker in the middle of the garment between 2 sts.

Cast on for sleeves and work as follows: Work Rib and place 4 p sts mid front for sizes S, M & XXL and place 2 k sts mid front for sizes L & XL. At the same time cast on loosely at each side on alt rows [= at the end of each row] as follow: Size S: 8 sts once and 9 sts 6 times. Size M: 7 sts 5 times and 8 sts 3 times. Size L: 6 sts 2 times, 7 sts 3 times and 8 sts 3 times. Size XL: 5 sts 3 times, 6 sts 3 times and 7 sts 3 times. Size XXL: 5 sts 5 times, 6 sts 2 times and 7 sts 2 times. Note! The new sts are worked in Rib as well.
There will now be 202-202-208-208-214 sts on the ndl and for all sizes there should be 1 edge st + 2 k sts at each sleeve edge [on right side rows].
When the front meas 48-50-52-54-56 cm shape neckline: Transfer the middle 16 sts to a holder, work each side separately and bind off at each side of the neckline sts on alt rows further 2 sts twice and 1 st twice = 87-87-90-90-93 sts rem on each shoulder/ sleeve. Bind off all sts evenly loose rib-wise when the front meas 54-56-58-60-62 cm.

Back: Cast on and work as the front, but shape neckline when the back meas 52-54-56-58-60 cm: Bind off the middle 24 sts, work each side separately and bind off at the neckline edge further 2 sts on the following row = 87-87-90-90-93 sts rem on each shoulder/sleeve. Bind off all sts evenly loose rib-wise when the back meas 54-56-58-60-62 cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder & upper sleeve seams and take care to match the ribbing on the back to the ribbing on the front.

Neckband: From the right side pick up and knit with 4.5 mm circular ndl and Alaska 72 or 84 sts evenly spaced around the neckline edge, incl. sts on the holder. The number of sts must be in multiples of 12. P 1 row [= wrong side] and k 1 row. Then work Rib in a circular manner and match the ribbing mid front as well as mid back. Work until the neckband meas 12 cm. Change to Puddel and bind off loosely. To ensure a loose bind-off work a yarn over ndl after approx. every 8th st while binding off at the same time - the yarn over ndl is bound off as well.

Cuffs: From the right side pick up and knit with 4.5 mm ndls and Alaska 50-50-50-56-56 sts evenly spaced along the sleeve edge, picking up inside the edge st [the number of sts must be in multiples of 6 + 2]. K 1 row [= wrong side] and k 1 row [= right side]. Then work Rib and the first row will be k 1, *p 2, k 4*, repeat *to* and finish the row with k 1. Work until the cuff meas approx. 16 cm or desired length [try the garment on]. Change to 5 mm ndls and Puddel. Bind off loosely as described for neckband.
Sew side seams and sleeve seams inside edge sts.

SCARF:

Measurement: Approx. 15 x 80 cm
Materials: Puddel
100 g colour no. 03, brown

Knitting needles: DROPS 7 mm or size needed to obtain correct gauge.

Gauge: 10 sts x 14 rows st st with 7 mm ndls = 10 x 10 cm

With 2 ndls [7 mm] cast on 15 sts with Puddel. The 2 ndls assure a loose cast-on. Pull out one of the ndls and k 1 row [= wrong side]. Thereafter work st st, starting with a k row. Work until the scarf meas approx. 79 cm, ending with a right side row. K the next row. Bind off loosely.

DROPS Design 03.02.2017 kl. 09:07:

Anne 06.04.2014 - 21:02:

Gr. Tine

Monique 12.10.2010 - 15:48:

Tine, sorry daar ben ik weer even. Bij dit patroon staat: "Brei vervolgens boordst met 1 kantst aan weerskanten." Zitten die al in die 74 steken of moet ik ze apart opzetten?

DROPS Design 30.08.2010 - 18:31:

Patricia, thank you so much. You are right it should be dec. I have corrected the pattern.

Patricia Korbin 28.08.2010 - 04:40:

Under "front" on the 3rd line do you mean to dec 4-4-6-6-6 sts evenly spaced on the row? If I take the total cast on sts and dec (not inc.) this number I get the totals of 70-76-86-92-104 sts. If I inc. instead of dec. I have 98 sts in the L size. Quite a difference. Please advise.

Carsta Von Felskog 07.03.2009 - 11:15:
