Kh lene

EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. Choose diagram for your size. DECREASE TIP (evenly): All decreases are done from the right side! To calculate how to decrease evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 74 stitches) and divide stitches by number of decreases to be done (e.g. 3) = 24.66. In this example decrease by knitting approx. every 24th and 25th stitch together. MOSAIC PATTERN: See diagram A.1 to A.6 and read explanation for technique below. Every row in these diagrams equals 2 rows. I.e. from right side work diagram from right to left and from wrong side work same row from left to right. On all rows from right side hold yarn behind piece (i.e. on wrong side of piece) when slipping a stitch. On all rows from wrong side hold yarn in front of piece (i.e. towards you and still on wrong side of piece) when slipping a stitch. Make sure that the yarn is not too tight on wrong side of piece! To maintain control over pattern insert a marker between every pattern repetition. Work pattern in garter stitch. A.1/A.3 show which colour to use on row. On every pattern row that begins and ends with a black square/square in A.1/A.3 (colour B), knit all stitches with colour B and slip all stitches with colour A. On every pattern row that begins and ends with a empty square in A.1/A.3 (colour A), knit all stitches with colour A and slip all stitches with colour B. HEEL: Knit 1 row over heel stitches. Then continue to work in garter stitch at the same time slip 1 stitch in the edge towards stitch holder-1 every 4th row on stitch holder-2 Continue like this until there are 6-7-8 stitches on stitch holder-2 = 7 stitches remain on needle. Insert 1 marker thread in piece, this should be used to measure length of foot. Then continue in garter stitch but on every 4th row work 1 stitch from stitch holder-2 back on needle. NOTE: Pick up 1 stitch between stitches on needle and stitches on stitch holder-2 to avoid holes. On next row work the 2 new stitches together. Continue like this until there are 13-14-15 stitches on the needle. Knit 1 row over all stitches. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked back and forth. Work sock in one piece, top down and sew tog mid back and under foot. SOCK: Work the entire sock in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above. Cast on 74-80-86 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side of piece) on needles size 2.5 mm with turquoise/blue. Work back and forth over all stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 2 cm, work 1 ridge with grey blue, then work MOSAIC PATTERN - read explanation above, as follows: Work A.1 (= 1 stitch), work A.2 (= 6 stitches) until 1 stitch remains (= 12-13-14 times in width) and finish with 1 stitch A.1. When A.1 and A.2 have been worked 1 time vertically, continue with grey blue while AT THE SAME TIME decreasing as follows: Decrease 3 stitches evenly every 4th row 4 times in total - read DECREASE TIP = 62-68-74 stitches. When 8-10-12 ridges with grey blue have been worked in total, continue pattern as follows: Work A.3 (= 1 stitch), A.4 (= 7-3-7 stitches), A.5 (= 12 stitches) over the next 48-60-60 stitches (= 4-5-5 times in total in width), A.6 (= 5-3-5 stitches) and finish with A.3 over last stitch. Continue pattern like this until piece measures 18-19-20 cm (approx. 4 cm remain on leg height). Continue with grey blue AT THE SAME TIME decrease as follows: Decrease 3 stitches evenly every 4th row 3-3-4 times in total = 53-59-62 stitches. When piece measures 22-23-24 cm, decrease 3-4-2 stitches evenly = 50-55-60 stitches. Now slip the first 37-41-45 stitches on stitch holder-1 = 13-14-15 stitches. Work HEEL - read explanation above, over the 13-14-15 stitches. After heel slip stitches back on stitch holder-1. Then slip the first 13-14-15 stitches from stitch holder-1 (i.e. in opposite side) back on needle. Work heel the same way over these stitches. Slip all stitches back on needle = 50-55-60 stitches. Work back and forth as before over all stitches. When piece measures approx. 8 cm from marker thread on heel, decrease 0-2-2 stitches evenly on next row from right side = 50-53-58 stitches. When piece measures 16-17-19 cm from marker thread on heel, decrease 0-3-2 stitches evenly on next row from right side = 50-50-56 stitches. Then work pattern as follows: Work A.1 over first stitch, work A.2 over the next 48-48-54 stitches (= 8-8-9 times in width) and finish with A.1 over last stitch. When A.1 and A.2 have been worked 1 time vertically, work 1 ridge with grey blue, then continue with turquoise/blue until finished measurements as follows: When piece measures 19-20-22 cm from marker thread on heel (approx. 3-4-5 cm remain), decrease 9-8-7 stitches evenly on every 4th row 4-5-6 times in total = 14-10-14 stitches. On next row work all stitches together 2 by 2 = 7-5-7 stitches. Pull yarn through all stitches, tighten together and fasten. ASSEMBLY: Sew tog sock mid back and under foot. Sew inside 1 edge stitch. Knit another sock the same way. |
