I must be reading this wrong; size XL, cast on 154 stitches. Row 1 is purl, rows 2 & 3 are knit; row 4 is 3 k2, k, k, 8 yo, k, k, 3 k2. When I do that, i end up with extra stitches at the end of the row (154 stitches divided by the 16 pattern stitches = 9.625.

Hi Alison. Are you referring to diagram A.1? Row 4 is: k2 tog, k, k, 1 yo, k, 1yo, k, 1yo, k, 1yo, k, k, k2 tog.

Question on the pattern A1... row 4 seems to be "indented"; what does that mean? Ignoring it makes the pattern not work out for the row, but I'm unclear what it means. Also, is the first stitch of the row a knit stitch or k2 together?
13.05.2017 - 17:33DROPS Design answered:
Dear Allison, in row 3 of the pattern A.1 there is 4 yo, and 2 K2tog which means that there is 2 stitch increased for every pattern repeat, and the "indent" is a representation of the increase in the number of stitches. In row 3 (and every row with yo's and K2tog's) the pattern starts with 2 stitches knitted together. I hope this helped. Happy Knitting!

So I did my gauge in the wave pattern and I'm off (I get almost 5 inches, not 4)... can I just make a smaller size? I hate to use smaller needles...

Dear Mrs Miller-Astor, you will have to adjust the needle size to get the correct tension - read more about tension here. Your DROPS store will also provide you any further individual assistance even per mail or telephone. Happy knitting!

Hi, I'm confused right off the start by the gauge. Do I do it in standard stockinette, or in the wave pattern? (I already did it in stockinette and was off, which made me question...)
14.04.2017 - 15:19DROPS Design answered:
Dear Alison! You have to do the wave pattern. Happy knitting!

Buon lavoro!
