Hi, Is the back and front increase of stitches is correct? Because it is not possible to get in total 80 stitches after the first front and back increase (if you increase 4 stitches every second round and do 24 rounds in total). It gives you 12 stitches in each back and front, so it is total 56 stitches in back and front. So can I get in total 80 stitches for back and front? Or maybe I do not understand something. Size S

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS RIGHT BEFORE MARKER: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the back and knit through the stitch loop that lies on the front of the needle. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT AFTER MARKER: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up the strand from the front and knit through the stitch loop that lies on the back of the needle. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from mid-back. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 100-104-108-108-112-116-120 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. Knit 3 rounds (= rolled edge), then work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 2-2-2-2-2½-2½-2½ cm. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (= mid-back). YOKE: Insert 4 markers which are used when increasing for the saddle shoulders, sleeves and yoke. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm and work the next round as follows: Knit the first 15-16-17-17-18-19-20 stitches (= approx. half the back piece), insert marker-1 before the next stitch. Knit the next 20 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-2 before the next stitch. Knit the next 30-32-34-34-36-38-40 stitches (= front piece), insert marker-3 before the next stitch. Knit the next 20 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-4 before the next stitch. Knit the last 15-16-17-17-18-19-20 stitches (= half the back piece). INCREASE FOR SADDLE SHOULDERS: Continue stocking stitch in the round and increase for the shoulders – read INCREASE TIP. You only increase on the front and back pieces, the stitch count on the sleeves remains the same. Increase 4 stitches every round as follows: ROUND 1: * Knit to the first/next marker, increase 1 stitch towards the right, move the marker onto the right needle, knit 20 stitches, move the marker onto the right needle, increase 1 stitch towards the left *, work from *-* 1 more time, knit to end of round (= 4 increased stitches). Work this round a total of 22-24-24-24-24-24-24 times = 188-200-204-204-208-212-216 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. There are 20 stitches on each sleeve and 74-80-82-82-84-86-88 stitches on the front and back pieces. Now increase for the sleeves. INCREASE FOR SLEEVES: Now increase only on the sleeves. The stitch count on the front and back pieces remains the same. Work stocking stitch, increasing 4 stitches every 2nd round as follows - remember INCREASE TIP: ROUND 1: * Knit to the first/next marker, move the marker onto the right needle, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit to the next marker, increase 1 stitch towards the right, move the marker onto the right needle, *, work from *-* 1 more time, knit to end of round (= 4 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 11-14-15-13-11-8-5 times (22-28-30-26-22-16-10 rounds worked) = 232-256-264-256-252-244-236 stitches. There are 42-48-50-46-42-36-30 stitches on each sleeve and 74-80-82-82-84-86-88 stitches on the front and back pieces. Now increase on both the body and sleeves. INCREASE FOR YOKE: You now increase on the front and back pieces and the sleeves. Work stocking stitch, increasing 8 stitches every 2nd round, i.e., before and after all the markers - remember INCREASE TIP: ROUND 1: * Knit until there is 1 stitch left before the first marker, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 1, move the marker onto the right needle, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit to the next marker, increase 1 stitch towards the right, move the marker onto the right needle, knit 1, increase 1 stitch towards the left *, work from *-* 1 more time, work to end of round (= 8 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 9-9-11-14-18-22-27 times (18-18-22-28-36-44-54 rounds worked) = 304-328-352-368-396-420-452 stitches. There are 60-66-72-74-78-80-84 stitches on each sleeve and 92-98-104-110-120-130-142 stitches on the front and back pieces. The piece measures approx. 20-22-24-25-26-37-29 cm from outermost on shoulder and down (= 5 cm saddle-shoulder depth and 15-17-19-20-21-22-24 cm sleeve-increases). Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Knit the first 46-49-52-55-60-65-71 stitches (= half the back piece), place the next 60-66-72-74-78-80-84 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 4-6-8-10-10-12-12 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 92-98-104-110-120-130-142 (= front piece), place the next 60-66-72-74-78-80-84 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 4-6-8-10-10-12-12 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 46-49-52-55-60-65-71 stitches (= half the back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 192-208-224-240-260-284-308 stitches. Continue stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm from the marker mid-back. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 10-12-12-12-12-14-16 stitches evenly on the first round = 202-220-236-252-272-298-324 stitches. When the rib measures 1½-1½-1½-2-2-2-2 cm, cast off. The jumper measures approx. 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the marker mid-back. SLEEVES: Place the 60-66-72-74-78-80-84 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto circular needle size 3.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 4-6-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 64-72-80-84-88-92-96 stitches. Work stocking stitch in the round for 11-8-7-7-6-6-4 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), increasing 6-8-8-8-8-10-10 stitches evenly on the first round = 70-80-88-92-96-102-106 stitches. When the rib measures 1½-1½-1½-2-2-2-2 cm, cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 13-10-9-9-8-8-6 cm from the division. |
