Hej Jeg forstår simpekthen ikke jeres forklaring til at sy kugleene sammen. Kunne I evt. Vise det med et diagram eller video? Mvh. Maria

Hi Maria, you have to sew 2 shorter sides together (first and last row). You will obtain a tube. Happy knitting!

Is the length of 6.25 inches measured along a diagonal edge or perpendicular to the knitted rows?
12.12.2025 - 02:50DROPS Design answered:
Hi Dot, The measurements are taken perpendicular to the knitted rows. Regards, Drops Team.

Why do we purl 1 row from wrong side and do we do this before we begin the actual pattern or at the end before we bind off? This is the only thing that is not making sense to me. Its a cute pattern and I am thinking of making this for christmas ornaments for people this year.
10.12.2025 - 14:46DROPS Design answered:
Dear Darcy, purling the first row from the wrong side will appear like a knit row from the right side, and will eat make a nicer seam when casting off sts from wrong side. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- CHRISTMAS BAUBLE - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth as a parallelogram, in stripes, then the cast-on and cast-off edges are sewn together stitch for stitch. The bauble is closed on one side, filled with wadding, then closed on the other side. BAUBLE: Cast on 20 stitches with needle size 3 mm and colour Off White DROPS Cotton Merino. Work back and forth in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above. On every 2nd row increase 1 stitch at the beginning of the row and decrease 1 stitch at the end of the row, making a parallelogram as follows: Purl 1 row from the wrong side. ROW 1 (right side): Change to colour Cherry Red, knit 1, make 1 yarn over, knit until there are 2 stitches left on the row, knit 2 together. ROW 2 (wrong side): Knit – the yarn overs are knitted twisted to avoid holes. ROW 3 (right side): Change to colour Off White, knit 1, make 1 yarn over, knit until there are 2 stitches left on the row, knit 2 together. ROW 4 (wrong side): Knit – the yarn overs are knitted twisted to avoid holes. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Repeat ROWS 1 to 4 until the piece measures approx. 10 cm (the ball will stretch to approx. 16 cm in circumference when filled) – adjusting so you cast off with colour Off White. This makes the seam least visible. Sew the cast-on and cast-off edges together stitch for stitch with colour Off White. The piece is now a cylinder. ASSEMBLY: To close the bauble: Use colour Off White and sew in the outermost stitch of every 2nd row (i.e., through each ridge) along one side, tighten the strand so the hole closes and fasten the strand well. Fill with wadding and sew the other side together. Fasten the strand well. LOOP: Use DROPS Glitter, or a left over yarn, for the loop. Cut a strand of 15 cm, thread it through a stitch at the top of the bauble and tie a knot in the end. |
