Hello! Thank you for another beautiful pattern. When increasing A1 It shows 2 yarn overs on the diagram but the pattern explains as if there are 2 rows of increasing with 1 increase per row. Can you please help? And the symbol on the diagram and the explanation does not match. Thank you in advance.
19.01.2020 - 15:49DROPS Design answered:
Dear Neslihan, you are making 2 yarn overs in each A.1 = 2 stitches are increased in each A.1, but you only increase on row 1 in A.1. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 56 stitches) and divide the stitches by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 4) = 14. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after each 14th stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. CASTING-OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can cast off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as casting off and the yarn overs are cast off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked with double pointed needles/short circular needle, top down. NECK: Cast on 56-56-60-64-64-68 stitches with circular needle size 6 mm and 2 strands pale rust (= 2 strands). Knit 1 round. Change to 1 strand pale rust and 1 strand off-white. Work rib (= knit 2 /purl 2) in the round for 3 cm. When the rib is finished knit 1 round where you increase 4-9-10-11-16-22 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 60-65-70-75-80-90 stitches. Knit 1 round (the yarn overs are knitted twisted to avoid holes). Change to circular needle size 8 mm. Insert 1 marker at the end of the rib and at the beginning of the round (= mid back); the yoke will be measured from this marker! YOKE: Work stocking stitch in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 4 cm from the marker increase as follows: INCREASE 1: Work A.1 (= 5 stitches) a total of 12-13-14-15-16-18 times on the round. When A.1 has been completed in height you have increased 24-26-28-30-32-36 stitches = 84-91-98-105-112-126 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 8-9-10-10-11-12 cm. INCREASE 2: Knit 0-1-2-3-4-0, work A.2 (= 6 stitches) a total of 14-15-16-17-18-21 times on the round. When A.2 has been completed in height you have increased 28-30-32-34-36-42 stitches = 112-121-130-139-148-168 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 12-14-16-17-19-20 cm. INCREASE 3: Knit 4-1-4-1-4-0, work A.2 (= 6 stitches) a total of 18-20-21-23-24-28 times on the round. When A.2 has been completed in height you have increased 36-40-42-46-48-56 stitches = 148-161-172-185-196-224 stitches. On the next round increase 0-1-0-3-2-0 stitches evenly spaced = 148-162-172-188-198-224 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 18-20-22-24-26-28 cm from the marker. Now divide the piece for body and sleeves on the next round as follows: Work the first 21-23-24-27-28-33 stitches as before (= half back piece), place the next 32-34-37-39-42-46 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-8-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve), work 42-47-49-55-57-66 stitches as before (= front piece), place the next 32-34-37-39-42-46 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-8-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve) and work the remaining 21-24-25-28-29-33 stitches as before (= half back piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 96-106-114-126-130-148 stitches. Continue with 1 strand of each colour (= 2 strands) and stocking stitch. When the piece measures 28 cm, increase 20-22-26-26-30-32 stitches evenly spaced = 116-128-140-152-160-180 stitches. Change to circular needle size 6 mm and work rib (= knit 2 /purl 2) for 4 cm. Change to 2 strands pale rust. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read CASTING-OFF TIP. The jumper measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder down. SLEEVE: Place the 32-34-37-39-42-46 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle size 8 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-8-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 38-40-45-47-50-54 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-8-8 stitches under the sleeve. Allow the thread to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing under the sleeve. Start the round at the marker thread and work stocking stitch in the round with 1 strand of each colour (= 2 strands). When the sleeve measures 4 cm from the division in all sizes, decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 6-5-3½-3½-3-2½ cm a total of 6-7-9-9-10-12 times = 26-26-27-29-30-30 stitches. When the sleeve measures 40-39-37-35-34-32 cm (shorter measurements in larger sizes due to longer yoke) increase 2-2-5-3-6-6 stitches evenly spaced = 28-28-32-32-36-36 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 6 mm and work rib (= knit 2 /purl 2) for 4 cm. Change to 2 strands pale rust. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember CASTING-OFF TIP. The sleeve measures approx. 44-43-41-39-38-36 cm from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
