I am almost finished with Night Butterfly DROPS 194-25. After the 16th Repetition, it says "Work 1 ridge over all stitches." Can you confirm that "all" just refers to the stitches on the needle and NOT making a ridge around the entire perimeter of the shawl? Thank you.
31.10.2023 - 16:19DROPS Design answered:
Hi Marilyn, Yes, just the stitches on the needle. Happy knitting!

Are there supposed to be holes from yarn overs in the shawl pattern? I did watch the video with the twisted stitch done on the following row to make the hole smaller. Is there an advantage to using the yo for the increase rather than an M1 or other increase that makes a smaller hole? Thank you!
12.01.2023 - 21:13DROPS Design answered:
Hi Marilyn, The yarn overs are knitted twisted on the next row to avoid holes. You can use other methods of increasing if you feel happier with them, but working YOs twisted should not leave a hole. Happy knitting!

On the Stripes Tutorial, I understand wrapping the old yarn around the new yarn. I'm confuse where you knit back on the wrong side, and the last two stitches before the edge (where you are carrying the old yarn), are done in some twisted stitch? What is the purpose of this? Is this the same twisted stitch used on the yarn over video to make the hole smaller when knitting the next row?
12.01.2023 - 21:07DROPS Design answered:
Dear Marilyn, in the video showing how to knit stripes the purl stitches are worked with the Norwegian method (see this video) - this means they are just purled all the row, the yarns are crossed at the beginning of the row from RS and row from WS is just worked as usual. Happy knitting!

I am hoping to night this Night Butterfly project and contacted your USA distributor, Wool Warehouse. They had all the required yarns except 651 - Sand, and tell me it has been discontinued. Is there an alternative Fabel yarn you would recommend? Thank you.
09.12.2022 - 20:34DROPS Design answered:
Dear Marilyn, you could check in other Internet stores if they have the 651 shade still available, even if it's no longer produced; sometimes stores have some yarns left over. The most similar shade right now is 912 (which is also used in the pattern) or, if you want a lighter tone for the shawl, you could use a unicolor shade, like 101 - beige. Happy knitting!

Wat wordt bedoeld met "work STRIPE 7 on 7th repetition, STRIPE 8 on 8th repetition, STRIPE 9 on 9th repetition etc"?

Dag Anna-Lise,

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. DECREASE TIP: All decreases are done from the right side! Decrease 1 stitch by knitting 2 stitches together inside 2 stitches in garter stitch at the beginning of row from right side. Decrease like this on the first row of short rows, and then on every 12th row (= every 6th ridge) 5 times in total in each of the first 5 repetitions on shawl. Increase like this every 12th row (= every 6th ridge) 5 times in total in each of the last 5 repetitions on shawl. On next row knit yarn over twisted to avoid holes. KNITTING TIP: To avoid a big hole when turning on short rows tighten the yarn before continuing. STRIPES: NOTE: Yarn change is at the beginning of row from right side (= in bottom edge on shawl).
