Bon tricot!

Hello !!!! Could I replace Kid Silk with Safran ? If it is possible, how many grams should I need ? I only have 500 g. TIA.
30.08.2024 - 13:38DROPS Design answered:
Dear Eugenia, you could replace them. However, the texture of the thread is completely different, since Kid-Silk is a light thread compared to Safran's heavier cotton. So the lace pattern will not look like the one in the picture and the garment will feel heavier in general. To change yarns, you can follow the instructions in this lesson: https://www.garnstudio.com/lesson.php?id=14&cid=19. Both are group A yarns, calculate as indicated in section "1 strand for 1 strand". Happy knitting!

I’m using the Hungarian translation. Where it describes the increase for the sleeves, the “6 stitches 3 times” increase is missing from the translation. It’s terribly annoying. I noticed that the sleeves are shorter than on the picture but I thought that the picture is wrong. When I reached the length for the neck I didn’t have the right number of stitches. . It impacts the whole shoulder pattern. It’s fingering, no way to take back 12 cm-s. I have to solve it somehow on my own.

On some of your diagram descriptions are missing descriptions only empty fields, not only on this one, bit on a lot of other ones as well, I am experienced enough to figure it out, but this pattern is bad Dagmar
13.03.2017 - 20:13DROPS Design answered:
Dear Dagmar, you will find descriptions to each symbol under diagram text in both US and UK English. In A.1 you are decreasing from row 13, so that you will have less sts after each dec row to finish with 12 sts on last row. Happy knitting!

Hi, my questions are: -what happens with the lost stitches? If I start with pattern A1 I'll lose stitches, also with pattern A2 due to tog. - I started to knit this pattern but the stitches slipped in 3rd row due to loosing 2 stitches in one pattern (starting with 16 in first row and continuing with 14 in the third one). My question is: should I knit 2 side stitches on 3rd row in each repetition?
16.10.2015 - 10:58DROPS Design answered:
Dear Diana, on first round in A.1 you dec 2 sts in each repeat, so that 1st row in A.1 is worked over 16 sts but row 2 to 12 is worked over 14 sts - then on row 13 you dec 2 sts (= 12 sts in each repeat), and on row 15 you dec 2 sts (= 10 sts in each repeat). After A.1 has been worked in height, 10 sts remain in each repeat = you can work A.2 (= 10 sts) over A.1. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Holland, you can use the best way you rather cast on your sts or see here different techniques to cast on sts. Happy knitting!

Hi, just a question about the A2 part of this pattern, should i be allowing one extra stitch at each end of the pattern row, or just starting the pattern as stated, not sure what stitch in the graph i should be finishing with. Thanks Barbara Australia
19.04.2015 - 02:25DROPS Design answered:
Dear Barbara, work 1st row in A.2 as follows: *K1, YO, K3, slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K3, YO*. Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. GARTER ST (back and forth): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS. ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER: Piece is worked back and forth in parts and sewn tog when finished. BACK PIECE: Cast on 163-195-195-227-227-259 sts with Kid-Silk (incl 1 edge st in garter st in each side) on circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST back and forth - see explanation above! Now work PATTERN as follows from RS: 1 edge st in garter st, A.1 (= 16 sts on 1st row) 10-12-12-14-14-16 times in width, 1 st in stocking st, 1 edge st in garter st. When A.1 has been worked vertically, 103-123-123-143-143-163 sts remain. Continue pattern but now work A.2 over A.1. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures 26-27-28-29-30-31 cm from cast-on edge - adjust after one whole repetition vertically, cast on new sts for sleeves at the end of every row in each side as follows: 2 sts 2 times, 4 sts 1 time, 6 sts 3 times and 28-18-23-13-18-8 sts 1 time = 211-211-221-221-231-231 sts. Work the new inc sts in stocking st until there is enough sts for a new repetition of A.2 in width. Now continue pattern as follows from RS: 5 sts in garter st, A.3 0-0-1-1-0-0 times in width, A.2 20-20-20-20-22-22 times in width, A.4 0-0-1-1-0-0 times in width, 1-1-0-0-1-1 st in stocking st, 5 sts in garter st. When piece measures 45-47-49-51-53-55 cm, adjust after a whole repetition vertically, cast off for neck while AT THE SAME TIME working diagonal shoulder: READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! Work the first 88-88-93-93-98-98 sts, cast off the next 35 sts for neck and work the remaining 88-88-93-93-98-98 sts. Then work left shoulder as follows: Continue with pattern as before with 1 edge st in garter st in towards the neck. NOTE: Work sts that do not fit the pattern in stocking st. On next row from neck, dec 1 st by K 2 tog = 87-87-92-92-97-97 sts. AT THE SAME TIME work over sts until 1 repetition remain before the 5 sts in garter st at the edge of sleeve, turn and work back. Continue like this and work 1 repetition less towards the sleeve on every row from RS. When piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm in total, adjust after a whole repetition, work 1 ridge over all sts. Loosely cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way but reversed. FRONT PIECE: Cast on and work as back piece. When piece measures 35-37-39-40-42-44 cm, dec for neck as follows: Work the first 91-91-96-96-101-101 sts, work the next 29 sts in all sizes before slipping them on a stitch holder for neck and work the remaining 91-91-96-96-101-101 sts. Then finish each shoulder separately as follows: Then cast off sts on every row from neck as follows: Cast off 2 sts 2 times = 87-87-92-92-97-97 sts remain for shoulder. When piece measures 45-47-49-51-53-55 cm, work 1 repetition less on every row towards the sleeve the same way as on back piece. When piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm in total, adjust after a whole repetition and back piece, work 1 ridge over all sts. Loosely cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams tog. Sew underarm and side seams in one inside 1 edge st. NECK EDGE: Pick up from RS approx. 110-120 sts (incl sts on stitch holders) on circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST in the round - see explanation above, loosely cast off. |
