I am finding the increase tip confusing on this pattern. I don't have a clear picture of what this tip means: Inc alternately before both markers on the middle of the shawl and next time after both markers. At this rate, the outer sections will increace faster than the center section. Is that as it should be?
04.10.2012 - 16:42DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Kirshner, you will inc 4 sts every RS row : 1 st at the beg of row + 1 st at the end of row + 1 st at each of the both markers. The first inc at marker will be done before the markers, the next inc will be done after the markers. Repeat these both inc before/after markers each time. Happy knitting!

Kleurennummer van Drops Fabel is verkeerd: wijnrood is nr 672 ipv 822 mvg Ann
28.06.2012 - 14:12DROPS Design answered:
Het nummer en kleurnaam is correct. 822 is de wijnrood longprint en 672 is wijnrood print. Voor dit patroon gebruikt u de 822. Kijk ook op de kleurenoverzicht.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. INCREASE TIP: Inc from RS by making 1 YO, on next row P YO twisted to avoid holes. Inc alternately before both markers on the middle of shawl and next time after both markers. Inc in addition inside outermost st in each side. I.e. 4 sts inc on every inc. -------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 7 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with 1 thread Fabel and 1 thread Kid-Silk. Insert 1 marker in 3rd and 5th st. K 1 row from WS. Continue in stocking st - work outermost st in each side in GARTER ST - read explanation above. AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st inside outermost st in each side and 1 st at each of the 2 markers – SEE INCREASE TIP. Repeat inc every row from RS until piece measures approx. 30 cm (adjust so that last row is worked from RS). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! ** Switch to circular needle size 4 mm. Then K 1 row from WS over all sts. On next row K from RS with inc as before, then K 1 row from WS. Switch back to circular needle size 5 mm. Cut the Kid-Silk thread and continue with only 1 thread Fabel as follows: Divide all sts in two and K 1 in each of the 2 threads in every st, i.e. double the no of sts. Then work in stocking st (with 1 st in garter st at the edge in each side) for approx. 5 cm - NOTE: Continue inc as before. When 5 cm have been worked, work with the Kid-Silk thread again, switch to circular needle size 4 mm. Work next row as follows from RS: K 1, * K 2 tog, K 2 tog, K 1 *, repeat from *-* the rest of row (make sure that 1 or 2 K sts at the outer edge are not worked tog). Then K 3 rows back and forth with inc as before. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm and work in stocking st and inc as before for 8 cm **. Repeat from **-** 1 more time. Piece now measures approx. 60 cm. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm, K 3 rows back and forth (1st row = WS), inc on RS rows as before. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm, cut the Fabel thread and finish the piece with only 1 thread Kid-Silk. On first row divide all sts in two, K 1 in each of the 2 threads in every st. Work 7 cm in stocking st back and forth with 1 st at the edge of each side in garter st - at the same time inc only inside 1 st at the edge in each side, no longer at the 2 markers, finish after 1 row from RS. Then K 3 rows back and forth over all sts. Work with the Fabel thread again and cast off with K from RS with both threads. Shawl measures approx. 68 cm vertically and 140 cm in width at the top. |
