I am planning to knit this using Drops Melody, as Ardesia is discontinued. In order to get the correct tension, I need to size up from 6.5mm to 8mm needles. Should I also increase the width of the smaller rib needles, or stay at 3mm? What would you recommend to achieve the right fit?

Dear Catherine, if you cannot match the gauge with the substitution yarn for stitch count as well as row count, you need to recalculate both. The rubbing is knitted with smaller needles, so the knit fabric is more dense and holds its shape better. You will need to use a somewhat smaller needles. Pleae do make a gauge swatch for theribbing as well, and compare to the schematic drawing and see from there which size of needles you will need. Happy Knitting!

Hej igen.
