------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble/double crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of each row of treble crochets, replace the first treble crochet with 3 chain stitches. The last treble crochet on the row is worked in the first chain stitch from the beginning of the previous row. At the beginning of each row of double crochets, replace the first double crochet with 1 chain stitch. The last double crochet on the row is worked in the third chain stitch from the beginning of the previous row PATTERN: See diagrams A.1, A.2, A.3 and A.4 (A.2 and A.4 apply to the bands on the front pieces). Each row of double crochets is worked from the wrong side, each row of treble crochets from the right side. NOTE: If row-4 in A.1 does not fit on the row when decreasing for the neckline, decrease as explained in DECREASE TIP-2. If row-4 does not fit after decreasing for the neckline or when decreasing for the sleeves, work the stitches which do not fit into the pattern in treble crochet. DECREASE TIP-1 (for armholes): Decrease on a row of double crochets. Beginning of row: Replace the number of stitches to be decreased with 1 slip stitch in each stitch below. End of row: Turn when the number of stitches to be decreased is left on the row (do not work the stitches which are to be decreased). DECREASE TIP-2 (for neckline): All decreases are worked on a row from the right side. Decrease 1 treble crochet on row-2 in A.1/A.3 as follows: Work 2 treble crochets together: Work 1 treble crochet in the next stitch but wait with the last yarn over and pull-through, work 1 treble crochet in the next stitch and pull the last yarn over through all 3 loops on the hook. Decrease 1 treble crochet in row-4 in A.1/A.3 as follows: RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Continue A.2 across the first 7 stitches, then in the first repeat of A.3 decrease as follows: Do not work the chain stitch, skip 1 double crochet from row below, work 1 treble crochet in the next stitch (1 decreased stitch), work A.3 to end of row. There will be 2 treble crochets next to each other on this row. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Continue A.1 until there are 9 stitches left, in the next repeat of A.1 decrease as follows: Work 1 treble crochet in the next stitch, do not work the chain stitch, skip 1 double crochet from row below, continue A.4 across the last 7 stitches (1 decreased stitch). There will be 2 treble crochets next to each other on this row. DECREASE TIP-3 (for sleeves): Adjust so you do not decrease on row-4 in A.1. WORK 2 TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER TO 1 TREBLE CROCHET: * Make 1 yarn over, insert the hook through the next stitch and pick up the strand, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the first 2 loops on the hook, work from *-* a total of 2 times (3 loops on the hook), make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops (1 stitch decreased). WORK 2 DOUBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER TO 1 DOUBLE CROCHET: Insert the hook through the first stitch and pick up the strand, insert the hook through the next stitch and pick up the strand (3 loops on hook), make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops (1 stitch decreased). INCREASE TIP: Increase 1 stitch by working 2 stitches in the same stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The front and back pieces are worked separately, back and forth and bottom up. The shoulder seams and side seams are worked, leaving a split at the bottom of each side. The sleeves are worked back and forth, top down then sewn together. The belt is worked with I-cord. BACK PIECE: Work 70-74-78-84-92-100-108 CHAIN STITCHES – read explanation above, with hook size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Work the first row from the wrong side as follows: 1 double crochet in the 2nd chain stitch from the hook, 1 double crochet in each of the remaining chain stitches = 69-73-77-83-91-99-107 double crochets – read CROCHET INFORMATION. Turn. Start on row-2 in A.1 (row-1 already worked), repeat A.1 (2 stitches) until there is 1 stitches left, work the first stitch in A.1. Repeat the diagram in height. Remember to maintain the crochet tension. When the piece measures 41-42-43-44-45-46-47 cm, decrease 2-2-2-2-4-6-10 stitches on each side for the armholes - read DECREASE TIP-1 = 65-69-73-79-83-87-87 stitches. Continue the pattern. When the piece measures 58-60-62-64-66-68-70 cm, with the next row from the right side, work the right shoulder as follows: Work 24-26-28-30-32-33-33 treble crochets, then 2 treble crochets together - read DECREASE TIP-2 = 25-27-29-31-33-34-34 shoulder-stitches. Continue back and forth across the shoulder-stitches until the piece measures 60-62-64-66-68-70-72 cm. Cut and fasten the strand. Work the left shoulder as follows from the right side: Skip the first 13-13-13-15-15-15-17 stitches after the right shoulder (= neckline), work 2 treble crochets together, then 1 treble crochet in each of the remaining 24-26-28-30-32-33-33 stitches = 25-27-29-31-33-34-34 shoulder-stitches. Work back and forth in the same way as on the right shoulder, until the piece measures 60-62-64-66-68-70-72 cm. Cut and fasten the strand. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Work 42-44-46-50-54-58-62 chain stitches with hook size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Work the first row from the wrong side as follows: 1 double crochet in the 2nd chain stitch from the hook, 1 double crochet in each of the remaining chain stitches = 41-43-45-49-53-57-61 double crochets. Turn. Start on row-2 in A.1 (row-1 already worked), work A.2 across 7 stitches (= band), then repeat A.3 (2 stitches) to end of row. Repeat the diagrams in height. Read the next 2 sections before continuing. You decrease for both the V-NECK and ARMHOLE. V-NECK: When the piece measures 40-40-44-42-40-46-46 cm, working from the right side on a row of treble crochets, decrease 1 stitch for the V-neck after the 7 band-stitches – remember DECREASE TIP-2. Decrease like this on each row of treble crochets a total of 7-7-7-9-9-10-10 times. ARMHOLE: At the same time, when the piece measures 41-42-43-44-45-46-47 cm, decrease 2-2-2-2-4-6-10 stitches for the armhole – remember DECREASE TIP-1. After all the decreases for the V-neck and armhole, there are 32-34-36-38-40-41-41 stitches. Continue the pattern back and forth. When the piece measures 60-62-64-66-68-70-72 cm, work A.2 back and forth across the 7 band-stitches (= neck); do not work the other 25-27-29-31-33-34-34 shoulder-stitches. Work until the neck measures 5-5-5-5½ 5½-6½-6½ cm from the shoulder (the neck is stretched slightly when sewn to the neckline later). Cut and fasten the strand. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Work 42-44-46-50-54-58-62 chain stitches with hook size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Work the first row from the wrong side as follows: 1 double crochet in the 2nd chain stitch from the hook, 1 double crochet in each of the remaining chain stitches = 41-43-45-49-53-57-61 double crochets. Turn. Start on row-2 in A.1 (row-1 already worked), repeat A.1 (2 stitches) until there are 7 stitches left, work A.4 across these 7 stitches (= band). Repeat the diagrams in height. Read the next 2 sections before continuing. You decrease for both the V-NECK and ARMHOLE. V-NECK: When the piece measures 40-40-44-42-40-46-46 cm, working from the right side on a row of treble crochets, decrease 1 stitch for the V-neck before the 7 band-stitches – remember DECREASE TIP-2. When the piece measures 60-62-64-66-68-70-72 cm, work A.4 back and forth across the 7 band-stitches (= neck); do not work the other 25-27-29-31-33-34-34 shoulder-stitches. Work until the neck measures 5-5-5-5½ 5½-6½-6½ cm from the shoulder (the neck is stretched slightly when sewn to the neckline later). Cut and fasten the strand. ASSEMBLY-1: Sew the shoulder seams and the side seams, from under the armhole and down, leaving the bottom 10 cm for the split. Sew the neck together mid-back, then sew the neck to the neckline. SLEEVES: The sleeves are worked top down, back and forth. Use crochet hook size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Start from the wrong side and work 53-55-59-61-65-67-71 double crochets around the armhole. Start on row-2 in A.1 (row-1 already worked). Repeat A.1 (2 stitches) until there is 1 stitch left, finish with the first stitch in A.1. Repeat the diagram in height. When the sleeve measures 1-1-1-1-3-6-7 cm, insert 1 marker in each side – used when assembling. Now decrease 1 stitch (inside 1 stitch) each side – read DECREASE TIP-3, every 4-3-4-3-3-2-2 cm a total of 4-4-4-5-5-6-6 times = 45-47-51-51-55-55-59 stitches. When the sleeve measures 29-30-30-30-30-30-30 cm, increase 3 stitches evenly on the row – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 6 cm a total of 3 times = 54-56-60-60-64-64-68 stitches. Work until the sleeve measures 48-50-49-48-48-49-48 cm from the shoulder, finishing after a row of double or treble crochets (without chain stitches in between). Cut and fasten the strand. ASSEMBLY-2: Sew the sleeve-seams and sew the bottom of the armhole as far as the marker – see sketch. BELT WITH I-CORD: Use crochet hook size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Work 3 chain stitches. Start in the 2nd chain stitch from the hook and work as follows: * Insert the hook through the stitch, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the stitch *, work from *-* in the next stitch = 3 loops on hook. ROW 1: Slip the 2 outermost loops off the hook and hold them in front of the piece so they do not unravel, the strand is behind the piece, * make 1 yarn over and pull it through the loop on the hook (= 1 chain stitch) *, insert the hook in the next loop (being held), work from *-*, insert the hook in the last loop (being held), work from*-* = 3 loops on hook. Repeat ROW 1 until the belt measures 150-200 cm or to desired length. |
