Bon assemblage!

I am having trouble with the decreases on the sleeve cap. In all the sizes, I end up with 4 less stitches ie. Size small, I am left with 24 sts not 28. Would you please explain the decreasing with more detail. Thanks

Dear Mrs Schuetze, dec for sleeve cap is correct, the number of remaining sts will be edited. Thank you. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot !

Gauge: 21 sts and 28 rows on larger needle in stockinette stitch = 10 x 10 cm (4 in x 4 in) Pattern: See chart (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is shown from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette stitch. Body: (Knit flat) Cast on 214 (230-242) sts on smaller circular needles with rust and knit 3 cm stockinette stitch, purl 1 row on the right side for the folding edge (measure the work from here). Change to larger circular needles and knit in stockinette stitch. Put markers for the sides as follows: 54 (58-61) sts for the front, 106 (114-120) sts for the back, 54 (58-61) sts for the front. When the work measures 9 cm, dec 1 st on each side of each marker every 5th (3rd, 3rd) row 3 (5-5) times = 51 (53-56) sts front, 100 (104-110) sts back, 51 (53-56) sts front. When the work measures 15 cm, inc 1 st on each side of the marker every 12th (8th, 9th) row 3 (5-5) times = 54 (58-61) sts front, 106 (114-120) sts back, 54 (58-61) sts front. When the work measures 25 (24-26) cm begin Pattern. When the work measures 35 (34-36) cm, with right side facing, begin shaping armholes: knit 52 (56-59) sts for the front, bind off 4 sts for armhole, knit 102 (110-116) sts for the back, bind off 4 sts for armhole, knit 52 (56-59) sts for the front. Knit each part separately. Fronts: At armhole edge bind off 3 sts every other row 1 (2-2) times, then bind off 2 sts every other row 2 (2-3) times, then dec 1 st every other row 3 times, then dec 1 st every 4th row 2 times = 40 (41-42) sts. When the Pattern is complete, continue work in yellow. When the work measures 50 cm, shape neck: bind off at neck edge every other row: 11 (12, 12) sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts once, dec 1 st once; then every 4th row dec 1 st twice. Bind off remaining sts when the work measures 58 (58-60) cm. Back: At each side edge bind off 3 sts every other row 1 (2-2) times, then bind off 2 sts every other row 2 (2-3) times, then dec 1 st every other row 3 times, then dec 1 st every 4th row 2 times for armholes = 78 (80-82) sts. When the work measures 56 (56-58) cm bind off the center 32 (34-34) sts for the neck. Bind off 2 sts at each neck edge on the next row. Work even until piece measures 58 (58-60) cm ; bind off all sts. Sleeves: Cast on 46 (46-48) sts on smaller double pointed needles with rust. Join (place a marker at the join), being careful not to twist sts and knit 2 cm stockinette stitch, purl 1 row on the right side for the folding edge (measure the work from here). Change to larger double pointed needles and knit in stockinette stitch. Inc 1 st on each side of marker 23 (25-24) times Size S: alternately every 4th and every 5th row Sizes M and L: every 4th row = 92 (96-96) sts. At the same time, when the work measures 34 (33-33) cm, begin Pattern. When the Pattern is complete continue working in yellow. When the work measures 44 (43, 43) cm , bind off 2 sts on each side of the marker and continue knitting back and forth on needle. Shape sleeve caps: on each side every other row bind off 3 sts twice, 2 sts 3 times, then dec 1 stitch 8 (9-11) times, bind off 2 sts twice, 4 sts twice, then bind off. The work measures approximately 56 (56-57) cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves. To make with a zipper front: Pick up approximately 110-120 sts along the left front on smaller needles with yellow and knit 5 rows stockinette stitch, bind off. Pick up sts again from the wrong side and knit 5 rows stockinette stitch, bind off all sts. Repeat along right front. Now two zipper pockets have been created into which the zipper tape is inserted. Pick up approximately 110-116 sts around the neck with yellow - do not pick up over the zipper pockets - and purl 4 rows; bind off. Fold the edge around the neck over against the wrong side and sew. Sew in zipper. To make with buttons instead of a zipper: Knit a placket as follows: Pick up approximately 105-110 sts along the left front on smaller needles with yellow and knit 2 cm stockinette stitch, purl 1 row on the right side for the folding edge and then knit 2 cm stockinette stitch. Bind off all sts. Repeat along the right front, but after 1 cm make 5 buttonholes evenly distributed on the row (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row). Remember to make corresponding buttonholes on the folding edge. |
