Gauge: 17 sts x 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm on larger needles in pattern. Pattern: See chart. The pattern is seen from the right side. Rib: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from * - *. Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Buttonhole: Make buttonholes along the right button band inside 2 edge sts as follows: 1st row (right side row): knit K 2, yo, K 1. 2nd row (wrong side): K 1, K 2 tog, K 1. Make buttonholes when the piece measures: Size S: 26, 34 and 42 cm. Size M: 28, 36 and 44 cm. Size L: 30, 38 and 46 cm. Size XL: 32, 40 and 48 cm. Note: On sizes S and XL the pattern will not match up evenly at shoulders. Body: Cast on 159-169-189-199 sts on smaller circular needles. Establish pattern as follows (right side row): 3 sts knit in garter st throughout (button band), P 1, rib over 152-162-182-192 sts, 3 sts in garter st (button band). Knit rib as established a total of 4 rows. Change to larger circular needles and knit as follows: 3 sts in garter st (button band), Pattern 1 over 153-163-183-193 sts, 3 sts in garter st (button band). Continue with pattern to finished dimensions. When the piece measures 26-28-30-32 cm start the buttonholes - see instructions above. When the piece measures 33-35-36-37 cm knit the next row as follows: 40-42-47-48 sts for the front, bind off 4-5-5-6 sts for armhole, 71-75-85-91 sts for the back, bind off 4-5-5-6 sts for armhole, 40-42-47-48 sts for the front. Knit each piece separately. Left Front: = 40-42-47-48 sts. Bind off for armhole at the side every other row: 2 sts 0-1-3-3 times and 1 st 3-3-4-5 times = 37-37-37-37 sts remain. When the piece measures 43-45-47-49 cm put 8 sts at the center front on a st holder for the neck band. Then bind off at the neck edge every other row: 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 4 times = 21-21-21-21 sts remain on shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58 cm. Right Front: Knit the same as the left, reversing shaping and making buttonholes in button band. Back: = 71-75-85-91 sts. Bind off for armhole at each side as on front = 65-65-65-69 sts remain. When the piece measures 50-52-54-56 cm put the center 19-19-19-23 sts on a st holder for the neck. On the next row bind off 2 sts at each neck edge = 21-21-21-21 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 40-40-40-40 sts on smaller double-pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit rib for 1 cm. Change to larger double pointed needles and knit Pattern 1. When the piece measures 5 cm inc 1 sts each side of marker every 5-5-3.5-3 cm a total of 9-9-11-13 times as follows: inc 1 st each side of P 1, K 1, P 1 in Pattern 1. The increased sts are knit into rib as you go along = 58-58-62-66 sts. When the piece measures 50-49-47-47 cm bind off 3 sts each side of marker and knit back and forth. Bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 2 sts 3-2-2-2 times, 1 st 0-4-7-7 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 56-57-58-58 cm, and then 3 sts at each side 1-1-1-1 time. Bind off the remaining sts, the piece measures approx. 57-58-59-59 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up around the neck (incl. sts from st holders) approx. 81 to 91 sts (divisible by 2+1) on smaller circular needles. P 1 row (right side row), then knit rib with 1 st in garter st at each side (center front). After 3 rows rib bind off all sts in rib. Sew in sleeves and buttons. |
