Dear Mrs Tesson, you are working crown of hat diagonnally, ie first work a rectangle around the head starting at one of the corner of the hat until you get correct width, then continue "straight": from WS: dec 1 st at beg of row and inc 1 st at end of row - from RS: inc 1 st at beg of row and dec 1 st at end of row. When you have correct lenght, dec on each side until 1 st remain. You will then sew short ends tog and work the top of hat in the round. Happy crocheting!

STRIPE COLOURS (applies to hat): ROWS 1-2: Off white ROW 3: Marine blue ROWS 4-5: Off white Then continue with red.
