How to crochet stripes with 2 colors

In this DROPS Video we show how to crochet stripes with 2 colours.

When working stripes in two colors back and forth we sometimes ask you to leave the loop hanging at the end of a row and then work next row from the side where you left the yarn on previous row. This is a great technique you can use to avoid cutting the yarn and having too many loose ends to weave in at the end.

Dear Lynn, in that video, we only work a swatch: over a chain stitch row we work first 1 row with sc, then 1 row with dc, then change colour and work 1 row with sc, change colour, 1 row with dc etc... Happy crocheting!

When working with 2 colours lay the strand of the colour not being used OVER the stitches from the previous round (not behind) and work around the strand so that it is hidden and carried forward. In this DROPS video we show how you can work double crochet with 2 colors. When you crochet with 2 colors in the round and you want to carry along both the threads, then you crochet around the thread you are not working with to carry it along. The last stitch you make with one color, wait with last pull through and pull through with the color of the following stitch. You can carry along a color by crocheting around it for as many stitches you want, then when it is time to change, you just use it in the last pull through and continue with that color and now crochet around the previous color. Remember - when carrying along a color or more the fabric will become much thicker than working with one strand. We use DROPS Snow in the video. In this DROPS video we show how you can start a new round of crochet with trebles and a new colour. By using this technique you will have the tail on the top so that you on next round can crochet around it, and even if you change color on every round, there will be a minimum of tails to weave in at the end. Put a slip knot with new color on the hook, make a yo, go through st on previous round, get yarn, make a yo and pull through 2 sts, make yet one more yo and pull through the last two sts. Continue with the new color. When you crochet with 2 colors back and forth and you want to carry along the thread, then you just crochet around the thread you are not working with to carry it along. In this DROPS video we show how to crochet with multiple colours. The principle when crocheting with multiple colors is to use a separate ball for each color field. In the last stitch of a color wait with last pull through and pull through with next color. It is important to plan the next row when you are working a row, so that you bring the thread to where it will be used on the next row. I.e in this video the pink will be used from the start of the next row, so when you are finished with the pink color on this row and you continue green, you crochet around the pink yarn so that you bring it to the edge.
