CROCHET INFO:
Work 1 ch at beg of every round with dc. Finish every round with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round.
----------------------------------------------------------

HAT:
First work a square back and forth from corner to corner, then work a top in the round.

Work 3 ch on hook size 3 mm with red.
ROW 1 (= RS): Work 2 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in last ch = 3 dc. Turn.
ROW 2 (= WS): Work 1 ch, 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in front loop of next dc, 2 dc in last dc = 5 dc. Turn.
ROW 3 (= RS): Work 1 ch, 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in back loop of every dc until 1 dc remains on previous row, 2 dc in last dc. Turn.
ROW 4 (= WS): Work 1 ch, 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in front loop of every dc until 1 dc remains on previous row, 2 dc in last dc. Turn.
Repeat 3rd and 4th row until piece measures 18-19-19-20-21 cm along each short side, adjust so that next row is from WS. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!

Now continue to work with dec and inc as follows:
ROW 1: (= WS) Work 1 ch, 2 DC TOG – read explanation above (= 1 dec), 1 dc in front loop of every dc until 1 dc remains on previous row, work 2 dc in last dc (= 1 inc). Turn.
ROW 2: (= RS) Work 1 ch, 2 dc in first dc (= 1 inc), 1 dc in back loop of every dc until 2 dc remain on previous row, 2 dc tog (= 1 dec). Turn.
Repeat 1st and 2nd row - AT THE SAME TIME when 8 rows have been worked in total from dec beg, work stripes (1st row with stripes = WS) - READ STRIPE COLOURS AND TIP FOR CHANGING YARN. Continue like this until piece measures 45-46-47-48-49 cm measured along inc side.

Now continue to work with dec in each side as follows:
ROW 1: Work 1 ch, 2 dc tog, 1 dc in front loop from WS/in back loop from RS of every dc until 2 dc remain on previous row, work 2 dc tog. Turn.
Repeat 1st row until 1 dc remains. Cut the yarn, leave approx. 40 cm - this is used for assembly. Sew tog short sides.

Now work in the round at the top of hat (beg of 1st stripes = on top of hat) as follows:
ROUND 1: READ CROCHET INFO! Work 1 dc in every row. Now work in back loop of dc.
ROUND 2: Work * 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round (where no of dc do not fit on round work 1 dc in every dc at the end of round).

Gail Tesson 27.10.2016 - 15:54:

I don't understand the construction of the hat. Could you provide diagrams or pictures of the construction? Where exactly do does the stripping start? Maybe it's the translation but some of the wording is also a bit confusing.

DROPS Design 28.10.2016 kl. 09:01:

Dear Mrs Tesson, you are working crown of hat diagonnally, ie first work a rectangle around the head starting at one of the corner of the hat until you get correct width, then continue "straight": from WS: dec 1 st at beg of row and inc 1 st at end of row - from RS: inc 1 st at beg of row and dec 1 st at end of row. When you have correct lenght, dec on each side until 1 st remain. You will then sew short ends tog and work the top of hat in the round. Happy crocheting!

Bonjour Cher Drops Team, J'aime beaucoup vos patrons tricot.

Bon crochet!
