Hi, I I don’t under understand how to knit the short row and the A1 pattern at the same time? Thanks for your help.
01.07.2024 - 05:00DROPS Design answered:
Dear Shirley, you will continue working A.1 on the worked stitches, but at the same time you will work more stitches on the sides then in the middle of piece. You can mark in the diagram which row you are working on the right/left hand side of piece to make sure you continue A.1 just as before even when working the short rows. Happy knitting!

I would like to knit Mathilda. I understand how to measure for size for a regular construction, however this is not regular construction. How can I determine what size to make without guessing, knitting the whole piece and finding it doesn’t fit?
15.03.2024 - 15:22DROPS Design answered:
Dear Louise, we generally suggest that try to find a piece that is similar to what the piece is, and compare sizes, that you can see on the schematic drawings below the pattern. This piece is pratically atube, that is opened on its side, that is flared out a bit, this is where you take it on (these measurments can be seen at the bottom of the dravings. Happy Knitting!

Guten Tag!

05.07.2022 - 16:28DROPS Design answered:

Reihe wieder anfangen. Viel Spaß beim stricken!

The pattern is done at the end, not the beginning of the row?
08.10.2019 - 16:45DROPS Design answered:
Dear Donna, you will work A.1 on each side = over the first 7 + the 7 last stitches on piece, in order to make it same on each side, you work first row in diagram at the end of 1st RS row and at the end of 2nd WS row, ie all rows in pattern with yarn overs and Ktog are worked at the end of the row - see PATTERN. Happy knitting!

Hello, I am beginning this pattern but am a bit confused by this step in the pattern: ( 8 rows (4 ridges) over sts in each side in every repetition.) it is part of the short rows. What does the repetition refer to? and are the side sts, where the new sts were added on? thanks for the help.\'
08.10.2019 - 01:01DROPS Design answered:
Dear Donna, when you work 1 repeat of the short rows, you repeat from * to *: so that you have worked 6 rows over the middle stitches and 8 rows over the stitches on each side (= short rows, when you work to the marker turn and work return row). Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. To make the pattern the same in each side, work first row in diagram at the end of first row from RS and at the end of the second row from WS. I.e. all rows where YOs and sts-tog are worked, must be worked at the end of row. No of sts in diagram will vary from 7 to 12. SHORT ROWS: Work 6 rows over all sts, * work until marker in one side, turn, tighten yarn and work the rest of row. Work 1 row over all sts, turn, work until marker in the other side, turn, tighten yarn and work the rest of row. Work 5 rows over all sts *, repeat from *-*. I.e. work 6 rows (= 3 ridges) over the middle 90-96-102-106-112-116 sts and 8 rows (4 ridges) over sts in each side in every repetition. ---------------------------------------------------------- BOLERO: Worked sideways back and forth on circular needle. Beg with right sleeve, cast on sts for back and collar in both sides of piece, cast off again for left sleeve. Then fold double and sew sleeve and side seams. Cast on 74-78-82-88-92-96 sts with 2 strands Kid-Silk on circular needle size 3.5 mm. Remove 1 strand and work in GARTER ST - see explanation above! REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 17 cm (= sleeve), loosely cast on 34-37-40-41-44-46 new sts in each side at the end of the next 2 rows = 142-152-162-170-180-188 sts. Insert 1 marker in piece 26-28-30-32-34-36 sts in from each side (= 90-96-102-106-112-116 sts between markers). Then work A.1 over the outermost 7 sts in each side of piece – READ PATTERN – and garter st over the remaining sts – AT THE SAME TIME work SHORT ROWS – see explanation above. When piece measures approx. 71-73-75-77-79-81 cm (from cast-on edge), adjust after 1 whole repetition of A.1, loosely cast off 34-37-40-41-44-46 sts in each side at beg of the next 2 rows = 74-78-82-88-92-96 sts. Continue in garter st over sleeve. When sleeve measures 17 cm, loosely cast off with 2 strands. Piece measures approx. 88-90-92-94-96-98 cm. ASSEMBLY: Fold the bolero double. Sew sleeve and side seams in outer loops of edge sts, and make sure to avoid a tight edge. |
