Will you pls explain if there is only RS (right rows) on Diagram A? What is total hat height? Thanks.
15.10.2013 - 14:55DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lada, in the diagram, 1 square= 1st x 1 row, hat is worked in the round, ie you will work only RS row, start on the bottom corner on the right side and read towards the left every round. Happy knitting!

DROPS 149-9 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
PATTERN: See diagrams A.1-A.3. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS. DECREASE TIP - NECK WARMER: Dec 1 st after marker as follows: K 2 tog. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. LOOSELY cast on 52-54 sts on double pointed needles size 8 mm with Snow. Work diagram A.1 (= 13 sts) and then K 39-41 NOTE: Work 3rd round on diagram A.1 as follows: P 4, 3 sts on cable needle in front of piece, 1 YO (K YO twisted on next round), K 2, K 3 from cable needle, P 4 = 53-55 sts on needle. Work diagram A.1 (= 14 sts) 1 time vertically with K over the remaining 39-41 sts. Then work diagram A.2 over all sts A.1 1-2 times vertically. Piece measures approx. 18-21 cm. Then work diagram A.3 over A.2 1 time in total vertically AT THE SAME TIME dec in K sts as follows: ROUND 1: K 2 tog, * K 10, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-* 2 more times (= 3 times in total), finish with K 1-3 = 49-51 sts (= 4 sts in stocking st dec in total). ROUND 2 (and then on every even numbered round): K all sts. ROUND 3: * K 4, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-* 4 more times (= 5 times in total), K 3-5, K 2 tog = 41-43 sts (= 8 sts dec in total). ROUND 5: * K 3, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-* 4 more times (= 5 times in total), finish with K 4-6 = 34-36 sts (= 7 sts dec in total). ROUND 7: * K 2 tog, K 2 *, repeat from *-* 5 more times (= 6 times in total), finish with K 0-2 = 26-28 sts (= 8 sts dec in total). ROUND 9: * K 1, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-* 5 more times (= 6 times in total), finish with K 0-2 = 18-20 sts (= 8 sts dec in total). When diagram A.3 has been worked 1 time vertically, dec as follows over all sts: ROUND 11: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 9-10 sts. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. NECK WARMER: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 73 sts on circular needle size 8 mm with Snow. Work PATTERN A.1 (= 13 sts), K 5, insert 1 marker, * K 10, insert 1 marker *, repeat from *-* 4 more times (= 5 times in total), finish with K 5 = 6 markers. NOTE: Work 3rd round on diagram A.1 as follows: P 4, 3 sts on cable needle in front of piece, 1 YO (K YO twisted on next round), K 2, K 3 from cable needle, P 4 = 74 sts on needle. Work A.1 (= 14 sts) and work in stocking st while AT THE SAME TIME on 4th round dec 1 st after every marker – see DECREASE TIP - NECK WARMER above = 68 sts (= 6 sts dec). Repeat dec when piece measures 14 cm = 62 sts (= 6 sts dec). When diagram A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically work diagram A.2 over A.1 2 times vertically in total. Then work as follows: ROUND 1: P 4, K 2 tog, K 2, K 2 tog, P 4 (= over A.2), K the remaining sts = 60 sts. ROUND 2: P 4, K 4, P 4 (= over A.2), K the remaining sts. Cast off. Piece measures approx. 23 cm. |
