Excuse me is there a video about putting up a zipper in knitting sweater

Dear Mrs Taha, we do not have any yet, but in this pattern, you will work over the 3 sts in garter st on one side until this "band" has the right length, then fold this band from WS along the edge stitches and sew the zipper between the edge on front piece and this "lining" - repeat on the other side with the 3 remaining stitches. Happy knitting!

M.vr.gr. Merian

Knitting tension: 21 sts x 28 rows on needle size 4 mm and pattern = 10 x 10 cm. Remember the needle sizes are guidelines only! Pattern: Double moss stich: Round 1+2: * K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*. Round 3: * P over K and K over P *, repeat from *-*. Round 4: * K over K and P over P * Repeat these 4 rounds. Rib-1: * K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*. Rib-2: * K1, P3 *, repeat from *-*. Garter st (back and forth): Row 1: K. Row 2: K. Back and Front pieces: Cast on 156-168-180 (192-204-216) sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with Navy and knit Rib-1 for 4-4-5 (5-6-6) cm. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and continue in pattern. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 17-19-20 (23-24-25) cm knit the stripes (in pattern) as follows: 4 rounds off-white, 2 rounds navy, 14-16-18 (20-22-24) rounds burgundy, 1 round navy – piece now measures approx 25-28-30 (33-35-37) cm. Knit next round in navy, at the same time as casting off 2 middle sts mid front for zip. Continue piece knitting back and forth from mid front – garter st the 3 edge sts on each side towards middle, knit the rest of the sts in pattern. Knit 4 rows off-white, knit rest of piece in navy. At the same time, when piece measures 28-31-33 (36-37-38) cm cast off for armhole as follows: knit 35-38-41 (44-47-50) sts (= right front piece), cast off 6 sts for armhole, 72-78-84 (90-96-102) sts (= back piece), cast off 6 sts for armhole, 35-38-41 (44-47-50) sts (= left front piece). Complete each piece separately. Right front piece: = 35-38-41 (44-47-50) sts. Then cast off for armhole on every other row: 3 sts 1-1-1 (1-1-2) times, 2 sts 2-2-2 (2-3-3) times, 1 st 2-2-1 (3-3-2) times = 26-29-33 (34-35-36) sts. When piece measures 37-41-44 (48-50-52) cm cast off 7-8-9 (10-10-11) sts for neck mid front and dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 1 time. Cast off when piece measures 41-45-48 (53-55-57) cm. Left front piece: Knit like right piece but reversed. Back: = 72-78-84 (90-96-102) sts. Cast off for armhole as described for front piece = 54-60-68 (70-72-74) sts. When piece measures 40-44-47 (52-54-56) cm cast off the middle 26-28-30 (32-32-34) sts for neck and cast off 2 sts at neckline on the next row. Cast off when piece measures 41-45-48 (53-55-57) cm. Sleeve: Knit the sleeve back and forth on circular needle as the piece has a tendency to twist when knitting in the round in pattern at the same time as increasing. Cast on 44-44-48 (52-52-54) sts (incl 1 edge st each side for assembly) on circular needle size 2.5 mm in navy. Knit Rib-1 – with edge st in garter st throughout - for 4-4-5 (5-6-6) cm. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and continue knitting pattern – at the same time, inc 1 st each side: 5-7-7 (9-11-12) times on every 4-3.5-4 (3.5-3-3) cm = 54-58-62 (70-74-78) sts. Knit the increased sts into the pattern as work progresses. When piece measures 26-30-33 (37-40-43) cm cast off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 3 sts 1-1-1 (2-2-2) times, 2 sts 2-2-3 (2-2-2) times, 1 st 4-3-2 (3-4-6) times, 2 sts 2-3-3 (2-2-2) times, 3 sts 1-1-1 (2-2-2) times. Cast off, the piece measures approx 33-37-40 (45-49-53) cm. Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Gather approx 87-115 sts (divisible by 4 + 7 sts) around the neckline on needle size 2.5 mm in navy and knit Rib-2 with 3 sts garter st on either side mid front - for 5-6-6 (7-7-8) cm. Cast off all sts apart from the 3 garter sts on each side mid front. Now, knit the addition for the zip as follows: continue to knit the 3 garter sts to the same length as zip, cast off. Sew in the zip – for the sizes where this is too long; sew it in from the top and cut it off at the bottom to the right length – sew over the cut of the zip so it doesn’t fray. Double over the addition towards WS, over the zip and sew in. Sew the sleeve seams; sew the sleeves onto the jersey. |
