COLOURS OF SQUARES: SQUARE-A: round 1: off-white, round 2: grey, round 3: tan SQUARE-B: round 1: grey, round 2: off-white, round 3: light beige. SQUARE-C: round 1: off-white, round 2: light beige, round 3: tan. SQUARE-D: round 1: light beige, round 2: tan, round 3: grey. SQUARE: Crochet 6 ch with crochet hook size 8 mm and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1: 3 ch, 2 tr in ring, * 3 ch, 3 tr *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times and finish with 3 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Turn piece. ROUND 2: 3 ch, 2 tr in first ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-loop, * 1 ch, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-loop *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, finish with 1 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Turn piece. ROUND 3: 3 ch, 2 tr in first ch-loop, 1 ch, * 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-loop, 1 ch, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 1 ch *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-loop, 1 ch, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. 1 square measures approx 12 x 12 cm. BAG: Crochet 6 squares of each colour combination = a total of 24 squares. ASSEMBLY: Sew squares tog in outer loops of sts to make 2 large identical squares as shown in figur-1 – sew with tan Snow. Sew the 2 large squares tog at the sides and along the bottom. Crochet a row of dc along the top of bag. STRAP: Crochet 2 straps on bag with tan. Beg 3 cm from side seam on front piece, work 5 dc, turn with 1 ch and crochet 1 dc in each dc. Continue like this back and forth until strap measures 70 cm, cut the thread and sew strap to the other side of bag, 3 cm from side seam. Repeat on back piece. FELTING: The piece can be felted either in the washing machine or the tumble dryer – read description below. Remember: Subsequent washes are as for a normal wool garment. IN WASHING MACHINE: Washing machines will vary when felting. If the piece is not felted enough, it can be felted again. If it is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in the washing machine, using a programme of approx. 40 minutes (not a wool programme). Wash at 40 degrees without pre-wash, detergent is optional. After washing, shape the piece while it is still wet. IN TUMBLE DRYER: Felting in a tumble dryer gives good control over the degree of felting. The tumble dryer can be opened during drying to check the size of the piece. If it is not felted enough it can be thoroughly wetted and felted again. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in water so it becomes completely wet, then place it in the tumble dryer and begin the drying process. Dry to the desired size, checking regularly. |
