Bon tricot!

Can you clarify how many stitches should be left to bind off and finish the sleeve cap of size M/L and what shape the end should be? I have 8 stitches left and it just doesn't look right. Help appreciated, thank you!
20.02.2017 - 14:05DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs McShane, number of sts will depend on your tension in height, you cast off for sleeve cap in size M every other row on each side (= at the beg of every row both from RS and WS) as follows: 4 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 54 cm, and bind off remaining sts. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot !

PULLOVER: Gauge: 10 sts x 14 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Rib: * K 3, P 3 *, repeat from * - *. Pattern: See chart. The pattern is seen from the right side. Front: Cast on 47-53-59-65-71 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib as follows: Row 1 (right side): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * K 3, P 3 *, repeat from * - * and finish with K 3 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st). Row 2 (wrong side): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * P 3, K 3 *, repeat from * - * and finish with P 3 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st). After 6 rows change to larger needles, K 1 row from right side and then K 1 row from wrong side, then knit stockinette st. When the piece measures 35-36-37-38-39 cm knit Pattern 1 (M.1) one time, then knit stockinette st to finished measurements. At the same time when the piece measures 41-42-43-44-45 cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 3 sts 0-0-1-1-1 time, 2 sts 1-1-1-1-2 times and 1 st 1-3-2-4-4 times = 41-43-45-47-49 sts. When the piece measures 55-57-59-61-63 cm bind off the center 9-9-11-11-11 sts for the neck. Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 2 times = 12-13-13-14-15 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 62-64-66-68-70 cm. Back: Cast on and knit the same as the front, with rib as follows: Row 1 (right side): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * P 3, K 3 *, repeat from * - * and finish with P 3 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st). Row 2 (wrong side): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * K 3, P 3 *, repeat from * - * and finish with K 3 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st). Bind off for armhole as on front. When the piece measures 59-61-63-65-67 cm bind off the center 15-15-17-17-17 sts for the neck. On the next row dec 1 st at each neck edge = 12-13-13-14-15 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 62-64-66-68-70 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 26-26-32-32-32 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib for 7 cm, keeping 1 edge st at each side in garter st. Change to larger needles and K 1 row from right side, then knit Pattern 2 one time, then knit stockinette st to finished measurements. When the piece measures 8 cm inc 1 st at each side every 6.5-5-7-5.5-4 cm a total of 7-8-6-7-8 times = 40-42-44-46-48 sts. When sleeve measures 49-47-45-43-41 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-2-2-2-2 times and 1 st 0-0-0-3-4 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 54 cm. Bind off the remaining sts. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Collar: Pick up 54 or 60 sts (divisible by 6) around the neck on smaller double-pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. P 1 row, then K 1 row, then knit rib – see that you get a K 3 at center front. When the collar measures 14 cm bind off all sts in rib. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. HAIR SCRUNCHY: Sizes: One size Materials: DROPS SNOW from Garnstudio 50 gr in optional color DROPS 4 mm double-pointed needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 16 sts in stockinette st = 10 cm wide. Hair Scrunchy: Cast on 5 sts on 1 double-pointed needle. K 1 row, * slide sts to right side of needle without turning work, pull yarn tight on back side and K 1 row from the same side as previous row *, repeat from * - *. You are making an I-cord tube – be sure to pull the yarn tight across the back when starting a new row so that the tube will be consistent. Bind off when tube measures 50 cm. Pull approx. 20 cm long piece of elastic through tube and knot ends together. Sew tube ends together with small sts. |
