The chart would be easier to follow if there were heavier vertical lines separating the three parts and row numbers. It would also be helpful if text instructions were included as well.

Bon tricot!

DROPS Lace Vest / slipover in 1 thread Vivaldi or 2 threads Kid-Silk
DROPS 74-25 |

Gauge: 16 sts x 26 rows on larger needles in pattern with 1 thread Vivaldi or 2 threads Kid-Silk = 10 x 10 cm. 2 repeats of Pattern 1B = 10 cm wide Rib: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from * - *. Pattern: See chart. The pattern is seen from the right side. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Front: Cast on 65-73-81-89 sts on smaller needles with 1 tread Vivaldi brown or 2 threads Kid-Silk dark brown. Knit 5 rows rib over all sts. Change to larger needles and knit the next row as follows (right side row): K 1 (edge st), K 1, P 1, K 1, Pattern 1A (= 5 sts), Pattern 1B over 48-56-64-72 sts, Pattern 1C (= 4 sts), K 1, P 1, K 1 and K 1 (edge st). Continue in pattern as established and at the same time when the piece measures 8 cm inc 1 st at each side inside of 1 edge st + K 1 every 6 cm 4 times - the increased sts are knit in rib as you go along = 73-81-89-97 sts. When the piece measures 32-33-34-35 cm bind off 4 sts at each side for armhole. Then bind off for armhole every other row: 2 sts 0-1-3-5 times and 1 st 3-5-5-5 times. When the piece measures approx. 39-40-42-43 cm bind off the center st for the neck and put half the sts on a st holder for left side. Right side: read entire next section before knitting: Dec 1 st at the neck edge every other row 15 times = 14 sts remain on each shoulder. Continue the pattern keeping 1 edge st at each side not in pattern. Bind off when the piece measures approx. 52-54-56-58 cm. Left side: Put sts from st holder back on needles and knit same as right front, reversing all shaping. Back: Cast on and knit the same as the front. Bind off for armhole as on front and when the piece measures 50-52-54-56 cm bind off the center 29 sts for the neck. Then bind off 1 st at each neck edge on the next row = 14 sts remain on each shoulder. Continue until the piece measures the same as the front, bind off. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Neckband: Pick up approx. 91-101 sts around the neck - from center front - on smaller short circular needles. Knit rib back and forth on needles, starting with 1 edge st knit in garter st + K 1 and ending with 1 edge st knit in garter st. After 4 rows bind off all sts in rib. Lay one edge of neckband over the other at center front and stitch down. Sew side seams. Armhole edges: Pick up approx. 84-94 sts around armhole on smaller short circular needles. Knit rib for 4 rows, then bind off in rib. |
