Bon crochet!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CROCHET INFORMATION: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble crochet is wide. COLOUR CHANGE: To get a neat colour change, work the last slip stitch on the round with the new colour. STRIPES: Cast on with colour magenta. Round 1 with colour magenta Round 2 with colour pink. Rounds 3 and 4 with colour marzipan. Repeat rounds 1-4 onwards. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1, A.2 and A.3. Diagrams A.2 and A.3 show how the squares are laid out and assembled in the different sizes. A.2 applies to the smallest size and A.3 the 3 largest sizes. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- COVER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece consists of Granny squares which are crocheted together, providing a pocket and a flap. Buttons are sewn on to close the cover. SQUARES: Use crochet hook size 2.5 mm and DROPS Safran. Read CROCHET INFORMATION, COLOUR CHANGE, STRIPES AND PATTERN in explanations above. Work squares according to diagram A.1 and work stripes. When the diagram is finished, continue in the round until the piece measures 11-12-16-18 cm along each side; there is 1 cm left to finished length. Change to colour pink and work 1 more round. The piece measures approx. 12-13-17-19 cm. Cut and fasten the strands. Work a total of 3-4-4-4 squares. ASSEMBLY: Use crochet hook size 2.5 mm and colour pink. Crochet the squares together into a strip as follows: Start in the middle chain stitch in one corner, * insert the hook from the right side and down through the back loop of 1 square, then insert the hook from the right side and down through the back loop on the 2nd square, pick up the strand and pull it through both loops on the hook *, work from *-* until these 2 squares are joined on one side. Repeat until all 3-4-4-4 squares are joined in a strip. The piece measures approx. 36-52-68-76 cm. Lay the piece flat, wrong side up. Fold 12-20-24-29 cm double on each side (to the wrong side). This is the pocket for the tablet/e-reader to lie in. The remaining 12-12-20-18 cm are for the flap. See diagram A.2 or A.3, which show the cover after assembly. NOTE! Only in the smallest size is there a seam between 2 squares at the bottom, as shown in the picture. Use crochet hook size 2.5 mm and colour pink. Start at the bottom of one side (see arrow with 1 star) and work the pocket through both layers as follows: Fasten the strand with 1 slip stitch in the corner, work 3 chain stitches, * skip forwards and work 1 double crochet between the next treble crochet groups, work 3 chain stitches *, work from *-* until the pocket is fastened down on one side (see arrow with dot). Now continue along the flap as follows: Work in the same way but through 1 layer as far as the top corner. In each corner work 1 double crochet, 4 chain stitches and 1 double crochet (= buttonhole). Continue like this around the flap (see arrow with dot on other side). Continue working through both layers so the pocket is fastened on this side as well – finish the round with 1 slip stitch at the bottom of the cover (see arrow with 2 stars). Cut and fasten the strand. Place e-reader/tablet in the pocket and find the correct positions for the buttons. Sew on the buttons and button them through the chain-spaces in the corners of the flap. |
