CARDIGAN: Alternate yarns: Silke-Tweed listed above may be interchanged for DROPS COTTON-VISCOSE or DROPS SAFRAN Gauge: Using 1 strand Silk-Tweed and 1 strand Cotton Viscose (2 strands in fingering yarn): 16 sts x 20 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. 16 sts x 30 rows on larger needles in garter st = 10 x 10 cm. Pattern: See chart (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side. Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Buttonholes: one buttonhole = bind off the third st from the front edge and make a new st (with a yarn over) over the bound-off st on the next row. Make buttonholes along the right front when the work measures: 2-2-2 cm, 9-9-9 cm, 15-16-16 cm, 22-23-24 cm, 29-30-31 cm, 36-37-38 cm. Left Front: Cast on 37-39-42 sts on smaller needles with 1 strand each yarn. Knit 2 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and Pattern 1 - but keep the 4 edge sts at the center front and 1 edge st at the side in garter stitch throughout. When the work measures 10-10-10 cm, inc 1 st at the side 3 times every 9-10-10 cm = 40-42-45 sts. When the work measures 31-32-33 cm, knit garter st over all sts to finished dimensions. When the work measures 35-36-37 cm, bind off for armholes at the side every other row: 3 sts 1-1-1 time, 2 sts 2-2-3 times, 1 st 1-3-3 times = 32-32-33 sts. When the work measures 37-38-39 cm, dec 1 st at the neck edge every 4 rows 12-12-13 times (make decreases inside the 4 edge sts) = 20-20- 20 sts remain on the shoulder. Bind off when the work measures 55-57-59 cm. Right Front: Knit like the left, reversing all shaping and making buttonholes along the front edge - see instructions above. Back: Cast on 70-74-80 sts on smaller needles with 1 strand each yarn. Knit 2 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and Pattern 1 - but keep 1 st at each edge in garter st throughout. When the work measures 10-10-10 cm, inc 1 st at each side 3 times every 9-10-10 cm = 76-80-86 sts. When the work measures 31-32-33 cm, knit garter st over all sts to finished dimensions. When the work measures 35-36-37 cm, bind off for armholes as on the front = 60-60-62 sts. When the work measures 54-56-58 cm, bind off the center 20-20-22 sts for the neck = 20-20-20 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the work measures 55-57-59 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 40-42-44 sts on larger needles with 1 strand each yarn. Knit garter st. When the work measures 10-10-10 cm, continue with Pattern 1 over all sts - and at the same time, inc 1 st at each side 11-11-12 times every 3.5-3.5-3 cm = 62-64-68 sts. When the work measures 49-48-48 cm, bind off at each side for sleeve cap every other row: 3 sts 3-2-2 times, 2 sts 1-5-6 times, 3 sts 3-2-2 times. Bind off. The sleeve measures approx. 56-57-58 cm.
