PATTERN: See diagram A.1. ---------------------------------------------------------- POT HOLDER: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 96 sts on circular needle size 3 mm with Muskat. P 1 round, K 1 round, P 1 round, K 1 round and P 1 round. Insert 1 marker in the first st at beg of round and 1 marker in the 49th st (= the middle of each side). K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME inc 9 sts evenly between 1st and 2nd marker (because of the lace pattern contracting there are now more sts on front piece than on back piece) = 105 sts on needle. Work first round as follows: K 1 (= sts with marker), work pattern according to diagram A.1 (= 56 sts), K 1 (= st with marker), P 2, 43 sts in stocking st and P 2. Continue pattern like this until piece measures approx. 19 cm, adjust so that 1 whole repetition has been worked vertically of the middle section in A.1. Now K 1 round AT THE SAME TIME dec 9 sts evenly between 1st and 2nd marker to get the same no of sts on front and back piece = 96 sts. P 1 round, K 1 round and P 1 round. Then K 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME cast on 20 new sts at the end of round for strap. Turn piece, cast off the 20 sts cast on, then place the pot holder double so that the markers are in each side. Now K tog sts from front and back piece 2 by 2 AT THE SAME TIME cast them off. Sew the pot holder tog at the bottom with neat, little stitches – sew inside the cast-on edge. Sew the end of the loop to the corner of the pot holder. Knit another pot holder. |
