Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl.* Repeat from * - *. Rib: * knit 1, purl 1.* Repeat from * - *. BODY Piece is worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 204-228 (248-268) sts on smaller circular needles with Alpaca and knit 4 rows garter stitch then 5 cm in rib. Change to larger circular needles and Pelliza and knit 1 row stockinette stitch and, at the same time, form pockets as follows: In the 40-44 (46-50) sts on each side of work (i.e. sts each side towards mid front) knit 2 sts in each stitch, putting the second st in each st on a cable needle behind the work. After this row you have 40-44 (46-50) sts on the cable needle each side for pockets and 204-228 (248-268) sts on the circular needle. Pocket: 40-44 (46-50) sts. Make the pockets first. Knit in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 8-9 (12-13) cm , then knit 4 rows garter stitch over the 19-21 (24-25) sts at the side of the cardigan, then dec 17-19 (22-23) sts at the side edges of the cardigan. dec from the side of the cardigan toward the center front inside the outermost 2 sts which are knitted in Garter Stitch: 1 st every other row until there remain 10-12 (14-15) sts Continue to knit the 2 edge sts at the side in Garter Stitch. When the pocket measures 19-20 (22-23) cm put the remaining 10-12 (14-15) sts on a cable needle. Knit second pocket and reverse the shaping. Body: 204-228 (248-268) sts Knit stockinette stitch. When the work measures 18.5-19.5 (21.5-22.5) cm from the rib - the body is now 0.5 cm longer than the pocket. Knit the outermost 10-12 (14-15) sts on each side of the work (at the center front) together with the pocket as follows: Knit the first stitch from the cable needle together with the first stitch from the body, then the 2nd stitch together with the 2nd stitch, etc. When the work measures 25-28 (34-37) cm (including the rib) knit the next row as follows: knit 49-55 (60-65) sts front, bind off 4 sts for armholes, knit 98-110 (120-130) sts back, bind off 4 sts for armholes, knit 49-55 (60-65) sts front. Knit the rest of each part separately from this point. 49-55 (60-65) sts Bind off for armholes every other row: 3 sts 1-1 (2-2) time(s), 2 sts 2-2 (2-3) times, 1 st 2-3 (2-2) times. 40-45 (48-51) sts When the work measures 40-44 (52-56) cm , bind off for the front neck every other row: 12-13 (13-14) sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 1 time. Bind off when the work measures 45-49 (58-62) cm . Back: 98-110 (120-130) sts Bind off for armholes as on the front. 80-90 (96-102) sts When the work measures 43-47 (56-60) cm , bind off the center 30-32 (32-34) sts. Then bind off 2 sts 1 time on each side of the neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 45-49 (58-62) cm . Sleeves: Knit the sleeve back and forth on the needles because the Pelliza yarn has a tendency to twist itself if it is knitted around. Cast on 44-48 (52-54) sts on smaller circular needles with natural Alpaca and knit 4 rows in Garter Stitch and then 5 cm in Rib. Change to larger circular needles and natural Pelliza and knit stockinette stitch. Inc 1 st on each side edge 24-24 (29-31) times. On sizes 8/10 years + S/M: every 4th row. On size 12/14 years: every 5th row. On size M/L: alternately every 3rd and every 4th row. 92-96 (110-116) sts When the work measures 41-47 (47-47) cm , bind off for sleeve caps on each side every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 2 sts 8-10 (11-12) times, 5 sts 2 times. Bind off. The work measures approximately 48-55 (56-57) cm . Assembly: Sew shoulder seam. Sew the sleeves to the body. Sew the sleeve seam and the side seam in one. Zipper pocket: Pick up approximately 88-96 (105-115) sts on smaller needles with natural Alpaca from the right side along the right front and knit 4 rows stockinette stitch and purl 1 row. Bind off. Bind off and fold over against the wrong side and sew. Left button band: Cast on and knit like the right, but after 1 cm bind off for 5-6 buttonholes evenly distributed. 1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts on the next row. Hood: Pick up approximately 110 (120) sts around the neck including over the button band on smaller double pointed needles with natural Pelliza and knit in Rib for 1 cm . Change to larger needles and inc 10 sts on the 1st row. 120 (130) sts Knit stockinette stitch with 2 sts on Garter Stitch on each side. After 30-31 (36-37) cm , put the last half of the sts on a cable needle. Fold the work double and knit sts together: Knit the first stitch from the cable needle together with the first stitch from the body, then the 2nd stitch together with the 2nd stitch etc. Bind off loosely. Make a small row pompon with 1 strand natural Alpaca and 1 strand natural Pelliza (4-5 cm in diameter) and attach it at the back of the hood. Insert the zipper into the pouch and sew it in. Cut off any excess zipper length at the top. |
