Hi again, thanks for the previous tip, it worked out well. Just want to know how to avoid the top of the hat from taking a pointed shape. When I'm finished it looks pointy at the top instead of flat/round. Please advise. Thanks.

Leila, you are doing it on every round. Check out the tutorial video linked from the pattern. It's showing you how it's done.

Hi, when it asks to replace the 1dc with a 3 chain, do you do for only round 3 and 4? If I keep doing it, I end up with a row of larger holes/circles down the middle of the hat. Please advise asap. Thanks.

How do i finish the hat pattern after doing the 7 last rows? It does not line up evenly. Do have to decrease on the 7th round?

Crochet DROPS shawl and hat with flowers in "Snow"
DROPS 86-13 |
|
Crochet tension: One flower worked with hook size 10 mm and Snow measures approx. 9 cm in diameter. Flower: Work with hook size 10 mm and Snow as follows: Work 4 ch and form them to a ring with 1 sl st in first ch – let end of strand lie around ring as it is worked so that it is fastened at the same time (cut off any remaining length). 1st round: * 8 ch, 1 dc around the ring (and strand-end) *, repeat from *-* in total 6 times. Cut the strand and fasten immediately by sewing it a couple of times around the inside of dc around the ring. Shawl: The shawl is worked in flowers which are worked together consecutively. Crochet flowers in colours shown in letter diagram. Start at bottom of diagram by working flower E – see description above. Then work flower D in the same way but when there is 1 ch-space remaining (= 1 leaf) on the 1st round work the two flowers tog as follows: Work 4 ch (= 1/2 leaf), 1 dc around 1 of the petals on flower E, 4 ch (= 1/2 leaf), 1 dc around the ring on flower D – now flower E and D are fastened together as shown in diagram. Continue to work in the same way by following the letter-diagram (the lines in the diagram show which leaves are worked tog). When there is a petal left over without adjoining leaves to fasten to - leave this petal hanging loose. -------------------------------- Hat: Materials: DROPS Snow from GARNSTUDIO 100 g colour no 20, plum leftover dark brown, colour no 3 for flower. DROPS Crochet hook size 7 mm. Crochet tension: Remember hook size is only a guide! 9 tr x 6.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm with hook size 7 mm. Crochet tip: First tr on each row replaced by 3 ch. Every round ends with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Hat: Work 5 ch with hook size 7 mm and plum and form to a ring with 1 sl st. Read Crochet tip! 1st round: Work 12 tr around the ring. 2nd round: Work 2 tr in each tr = 24 tr 3rd round: * 1 tr in 1st tr, 2 tr in next tr *, repeat from *-* to end of round = 36 tr. 4th round: * 1 tr in each of the 2 first tr, 2 tr in next tr *, repeat from *-* = 48 tr. After 4th round, piece measures approx. 14 cm in diameter. Continue to work 7 rounds tr without inc. Cut and fasten strands. Crochet a flower with hook size 7 mm and dark brown – see description under Shawl – and fasten flower to hat. |
