Such a great and well written pattern! This was the most intricate pattern I’ve done yet but the videos really helped! The only thing I didn’t understand was the “5th row” increases. I took it mean to increase on every new “1st” row of the repeat. This meant that I alternated between a classic moss stitch and a striped moss stitch. But it gave a great texture to the shawl that I ended up loving anyway!

A magyar fordításban a 2. sor végén a két szélszem előtt van egy rh írva, gondolom ráhajtást jelent, de az nem kell oda szerintem. Azzal mindkét oldalon szélesedne a kendő, kipróbáltam, túl sok a rizsminta úgy.

Dear Sarune, this shawl is worked with only 1 strand Alpaca - and a tension of 24 ss x 40 rows moss stitch = 10 x 10 cm. Happy knitting!

Liebe Carolin, wahrscheinlich ja, aber die Zunhamen/Abnahmen sollten Sie dann vielleicht anpassen, damit das Tuch maßstabsgerecht bleibt. Viel Spaß beim stricken!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- EDGE STITCHES: At the beginning of each row from the right side, work 2 edge stitches as follows: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. At the end of each row from the wrong side work 2 edge stitches as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left on the row, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. MOSS STITCH (worked back and forth): Row 1: * Knit 1. purl 1 *, work from *-*. Row 2: Knit over purl and purl over knit. Repeat row 2 onwards. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked from side to side, with moss stitch and a laced pattern along the edge. SHAWL: Cast on 8 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm and DROPS Alpaca. Read EDGE STITCHES and MOSS STITCH in explanations above. ROW 1 (right side): Work 2 edge stitches, moss stitch until there are 4 stitches left on the row, insert a marker-thread (and allow it to follow your work onwards, inside 4 stitches on the left-hand side of the shawl from the right side), knit to end of row. ROW 2 (wrong side): Knit to the marker-thread, work moss stitch until there are 2 stitches left, 2 edge stitches. ROW 3 (right side): Work 2 edge stitches, moss stitch as far as the marker, knit 2 together, make 2 yarn overs and knit 2 in each of the 2 remaining stitches (work both the front and back loops). There are 5 stitches and 2 yarn overs after the marker-thread. ROW 4 (wrong side): Slip the first stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over, knit 1, pass the back stitch on the right needle over the front stitch (2 stitches decreased), knit 1, drop 1 yarn over, knit the second yarn over, knit 1 (marker-thread is here), moss stitch until there are 2 stitches left, 2 edge stitches. Repeat rows 1-4 one more time. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue working rows 1-4, at the same time as you increase 1 stitch on the first row by making 1 yarn over just before the marker-thread. On the next row work the yarn over twisted in moss stitch – no hole. Repeat this increase every 5th row, alternately from the right and wrong side – increasing after the marker-thread from the wrong side and before the marker-thread from the right side, with increasing numbers of moss stitches on one side of the piece. Work and increase until the shawl measures 57 cm in height, there are approx. 52 stitches and piece measures 22 cm in width. Work 8 rows as before but without further increases. Repeat rows 1-4, at the same time on the first row, decrease 1 stitch – knit 2 together before the marker thread from the right side or purl 2 together after the marker-thread from the wrong side. Repeat the decrease every 5th row, alternately from the right and wrong side, until there are 8 stitches left on the needle. Work 8 rows without further decreases. Cast off with knit. Cut and fasten the strand. The shawl measures approx. 116 cm. |
