Could you please clarify what part of the boot/foot is gong on each needle; I.e., first 9-9-10 stitches on 1 stitch holder will be ?.. Do I work the 2nd 9-9-10 stitches before slipping them on with the 1st set of slipped stitches? Also, am I only working the middle 6-6-8 stitches? At what point do I continue working the foot before I start decreasing for the toe? Thanks

Dear Cathy T, you will slip the first 9-9-10 sts on a thread/stitch holder without working them and work only the next 6-6-8 middle sts for top of foot, the remaining 9-9-10 sts on the round will also be slipped on a thread/stitch holder. Work the middle 6-6-8 sts until this part measures 8-9.5-11 cm then put them aside. Knit back the first 9-9-10 sts, pick up sts along right side of mid foot, knit the 6-6-8 sts, pick up sts along left side of mid foot, knit back the last 9-9-10 sts and work garter stitch for 2 cm, then start decreasing on mid foot + on mid back. Happy knitting!

Hej.

DROPS 193-20 |

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- TIP FOR CHANGING YARN: When switching ball with Polaris, split the old strand in two on the last 15 cm – cut off one part, do the same on the new strand. Place the first and last 15 cm on top of each other so that the yarn is the normal thickness and continue to work – this is done to make the strand switch invisible in the yarn. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge vertically = 2 rounds, i.e. knit 1 round and purl 1 round. GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPERS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles, from the top and down to foot. Then work middle piece on top of foot back and forth. Then work in the round. Sew slipper tog mid under foot. Read TIP FOR CHANGING YARN! SLIPPERS: Cast on 28-28-32 stitches on double pointed needles size 9 mm with dark grey. Work A.1 in the round (= 7-7-8 repetitions of 4 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 has been worked vertically, piece measures approx. 10 cm. Work 2 ridges in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above – AT THE SAME TIME on last round of the 2 ridges decrease 4 stitches evenly = 24-24-28 stitches. FOOT: Work foot in medium grey. Slip the first 9-9-10 stitches on round on 1 stitch holder (work stitches before slipping them on stitch holder), knit the next 6-6-8 stitches (= middle piece on top of foot) and slip the remaining 9-9-10 stitches on round on 1 stitch holder. Work ridges in GARTER ST – read explanation above – back and forth over the 6-6-8 stitches until middle part measures 8-9½-11 cm. Now slip the stitches from stitch holders back on needle and pick in addition up 8-10-11 new stitches on each side of middle part (pick up in outer loops of edge stitches) = 40-44-50 stitches on needle. Insert 1 marker on this round – NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE. Insert 1 marker thread mid front on toe, move this marker thread upwards when working, it is used for decrease later. Continue in the round in garter stitch. When piece measures 2 cm from marker (adjust so that next round is knitted), knit 2 together on each side of marker thread at the front on toe (= 2 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every other round (i.e. every round with knit) until piece measures 6-6-7 cm from marker. Cast off. Sew seam mid under foot in outer loops of edge stitches to avoid a chunky seam. Work another slipper the same way but work diagram A.2 instead of A.1. |
