Bon tricot!

Hello! I am now knitting the sleeves and have a problem understanding when you say: "then knit Pattern 1 to finished dimensions". Since the pattern is repeated over 6 stitches, do I just plainly knit the additionnal stitches until I have done 6 increases (which allow me to start a full pattern again)?. Otherwise, if I do part of the pattern (for example when I have added only 4 stitches), it won't follow the actual pattern... I hope my question is clear and thank you for your help!
07.05.2024 - 16:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Josée, when you do not have enough stitches for a full patternrepeat (usually because of a decrease or increase), you should knit those stitches with stocking stitch, then when you have enough stitches for a full repeat, then add that repeat. Happy Knitting!

Hello, I am currently knitting the Fresquito sweater in Drops Belle and I have a question regarding the body: when it says “bind off 6 stitches at each side for armholes”, it refers to each side of what? The marker? Or after how many stitches starting at the marker? Thank you for your help, Josée
25.04.2024 - 14:51DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Laberge, you will cast off 6 sts for each armhole, ie 3 sts at the beg of the round + 6 sts after half of piece (other side/other armhole) + 3 sts at the end of the round. Happy knitting!

The directions do not match the detail of sweater in photo. It's a lace pattern, not garter st. Do you have corrections?
11.03.2012 - 22:44DROPS Design answered:
The explanation for garter st is used for the edges of the sweater. The body and sleeves are told to be worked in Pattern following the chart placed at the bottom of the page next to the measure chart.

Gauge: 20 sts x 30 rows in pattern = 10 x 10 cm. Garter st, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl.* Repeat from * - *. Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Pattern: See chart. The pattern is seen from the right side. Body: Cast on 180-192-204 sts on circular needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 4 rows garter st, then Pattern 1 to finished dimensions. When the work measures 20-21-22 cm, bind off 6-6-6 sts at each side for armholes. Knit the rest of the front and back separately. Front: = 84-90-96 sts. Bind off for armholes at each side every other row: 2 sts 1-1-2 times, 1 st 3-3-4 times = 74-80-80 sts. Continue in Pattern, keeping 1 edge st in garter st at each side throughout. When the work measures 31-33-35 cm, put the center 20-20-20 sts on a st holder for the neck. Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 4 times, 1 st 3 times = 16-19-19 sts remain on the shoulder. Bind off when the work measures 38-40-42 cm. Back: Bind off for armholes as on the front = 74-80-80 sts. When the work measures 37-39-41 cm bind off the center 38-38-38 sts for the neck. Bind off 2 sts at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 38-40-42 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 48-48-54 sts on double pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 2 rows garter st, then 5 rows of stockinette st, then knit Pattern 1 to finished dimensions. When the work measures 10-10-10 cm, inc 1 st each side of marker 9-12-9 times every 4-3-4 cm = 66-72-72 sts - knit the increased sts into the pattern as you go along. When the sleeve measures 50-49-49 cm, bind off 3-3-3 sts each side of marker and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Bind off at each side for sleeve cap every other row: 3 sts 2-2-2 times, 2 sts 1-2-2 times, 1 st 6-4-5 times, 2 sts 1-2-2 times, 3 sts 2-2-2 times. Bind off; the sleeve measures approx. 58-57-58 cm. Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 95-110 sts around the neck (including the sts from the st holder at the center front) on double pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 10 rows of stockinette st, bind off; the neck should roll. Sew in the sleeves. |
