For decreases the pattern indicates DECREASING TIP-1 (back piece): Dec 1 st from RS inside 2 garter sts.Dec as follows after 2 garter sts: K2 tog.Dec as follows before 2 garter sts: slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso. As there is on garter sts on each end and the two decreases occur on the same row. How is this done. Iam I short on garter st. Stitch count is correc for size 3edge st included Thank you

Dear Jaye, the decreasing-tip 1 applies on back piece when dec 1 st each side for armhole. Decrease in M.1 as shown in diagram (more dec than yo). Happy knitting!

Are there 2 edge st, one garter and one st st? Also are there decreases in rows 14,18,22 and 26?
08.01.2014 - 18:49DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jaye, you start back (and front) piece with 1 edge st in garter st, M1 (starting it self with K2 and ends with K1), K1 (st st), 1 st in garter st. Dec in M.1 are done on rows 13, 17, 21 and 25: you dec 4 sts and make only 2 yos = 2 sts dec in each repetition. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Wills, you can check on a separate swatch if washing/blocking may let this difference disapear. Happy knitting!

Hello - please can you clarify the following instruction, in particular "1 edge st in garter st" and "1 stockinette st and 1 edge st in garter st" - Are these single sts at each end of the rows? - Continue as follows: 1 edge st in garter st – see above - 6-7-8-9-10-11 repeats of M.1 across the row, 1 stockinette st and 1 edge st in garter st
12.05.2012 - 05:00DROPS Design answered:
The edge st in garter st means that they are K on every row. The st in stockinette means K on RS and P on WS.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. PATTERN: See diagram M.1 and M.2 – the diagrams show the pattern from the RS. DECREASING TIP-1 (back piece): Dec 1 st from RS inside 2 garter sts. Dec as follows after 2 garter sts: K2 tog. Dec as follows before 2 garter sts: slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso. DECREASING TIP-2 (front piece): Dec 1 st from RS on each side of st with marker as follows: work row until 1 st before st with marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso. --------------------------------------------------- BACK PIECE: LOOSELY cast on 111-129-147-165-183-201 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 5 mm with Paris. K 1 row from WS, K 1 row from RS and P 1 row from WS. Continue as follows: 1 edge st in garter st – see above - 6-7-8-9-10-11 repeats of M.1 across the row, 1 stocking st and 1 edge st in garter st. Continue like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! After M.1 piece measures approx 16 cm and there are 63-73-83-93-103-113 sts on row. Continue in M.2 over M.1 with 1 edge st each side – work the last but one st on row in stocking st as before. When piece measures 38-39-40-41-42-43 cm continue in garter st on all sts until finished measurements. When piece measures 49-50-51-52-53-54 cm cast off 2-3-4-5-6-7 sts each side for armhole and dec 1 st each side inside 2 garter sts at the beg of every row a total of 6-8-9-11-12-14 times – SEE DECREASING TIP-1 = 47-51-57-61-67-71 sts. Cast off all sts when piece measures 64-66-68-70-72-74 cm. FRONT PIECE: Cast on and work like back piece until piece measures 49-50-51-52-53-54 cm – adjust so that next row is from RS. Insert a marker in the middle st in piece. Cast off the first 0-1-2-3-4-5 sts for armhole and repeat the dec the other side at the beg of next row from WS, AT THE SAME TIME cast off st with marker (= middle st) for split on this row and complete each side separately. Slip sts on the right side on a stitch holder. LEFT FRONT PIECE: = 31-35-39-43-47-51 sts. Insert a marker in the middle st. On next row from RS dec on each side of marker – SEE DECREASING TIP-2 - and repeat the dec on every other row a total of 4-6-7-9-10-12 times and then on every 4th row a total of 4 times = 15-15-17-17-19-19 sts left on shoulder. Continue for strap in garter st until piece measures 68-70-72-74-76-78 cm, and cast off. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Slip sts from stitch holder back on needle = 31-35-39-43-47-51 sts. First row = RS. At the beg of row pick up 1 st in the st cast off when dividing front piece and K this tog with first st on row (to avoid a hole at bottom of V-neck). Continue as described for left front piece. ASSEMBLY: Sew side seams inside 1 edge st and sew straps to back piece – sew in outer loops of sts to avoid a chunky seam. |
