------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.1 and A.2). The diagrams show the pattern from the right side. The diagrams are worked from right to left when working from the right side, and left to right when working from the wrong side. PATTERN TIP: When increasing for neckline and armholes, work the new stitches into the pattern, i.e., diagram A.3 with 7 stocking stitches between each repeat. Do not begin the lace pattern until there is room for a complete repeat of A.3. When you have 7-7-8-8-8-10-12 repeats of A.3 in width on the front and back pieces, work the remaining stitches on each side in stocking stitch. I-CORD-1: Row 1: Knit 2 twisted together, make 1 yarn over, work to end of row as before. Row 2: Work as before until there are 2 stitches left on the row, slip 2 stitches with strand in front. Repeat rows 1 and 2. I-CORD-2: Row 1: Knit 2 twisted together, make 1 yarn over, work until there are 2 stitches left, slip 2 stitches with strand in front. Work row 1 from both the right and wrong side. INCREASE TIP-1: Increase 1 stitch inside 3 stitches on each side (2 edge stitches + 1 knitted stitch). Increase by making 1 yarn over, which is worked twisted into the pattern on the next row. INCREASE TIP-2: Increase 1 stitch before markers-1 and 3 and after markers-2 and 4 by making 1 yarn over. The yarn overs are knitted twisted on the next round to avoid holes. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- TOP – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The front shoulders are started separately back and forth until the neckline is finished, then joined for the front piece which is then worked top down as far as the armholes. This is repeated on the back piece. The front and back pieces are joined and the body continued in the round. The shoulder seams are sewn and the neck worked in the round to finish. LEFT FRONT SHOULDER: Cast on 17-19-20-20-22-22-22 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and DROPS Belle. Knit 1 row from the wrong side, knit 1 row from the right side. Continue with PATTERN – read explanation above, as follows: ROW 1 (wrong side): Work 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-1 – read explanation above, A.1 across 15-17-18-18-20-20-20 stitches; remember the diagram is worked from left to right from the wrong side. ROW 2 (right side): Work A.1 across 15-17-18-18-20-20-20 stitches, then 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-1. When A.1 is finished, repeat in height until the piece measures 3-4-5-6-7-8-9 cm, with the next row from the wrong side. Read PATTERN TIP in explanations above before continuing. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now cast on stitches at the end of each row from the wrong side as follows: 1 stitch 3 times, 2 stitches 1 time and 3 stitches 1 time = 25-27-28-28-30-30-30 stitches. After the last row from the wrong side, lay the piece to one side and work the right front shoulder. The piece measures approx. 7-8-9-10-11-12-13 cm. RIGHT FRONT SHOULDER: Cast on 17-19-20-20-22-22-22 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm. Knit 1 row from the wrong side, knit 1 row from the right side. Continue with pattern as follows: ROW 1 (wrong side): Work A.2 across 15-17-18-18-20-20-20 stitches, then 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-1. ROW 2 (right side): Work 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-1, A.2 across 15-17-18-18-20-20-20 stitches. When A.2 is finished, repeat in height until the piece measures 3-4-5-6-7-8-9 cm, with the next row from the wrong side. Remember PATTERN TIP. Now cast on stitches at the end of each row from the right side as follows: 1 stitch 3 times, 2 stitches 1 time and 3 stitches 1 time = 25-27-28-28-30-30-30 stitches. Work 1 row from the wrong side so the left and right shoulders finish on the same row. The piece measures approx. 7-8-9-10-11-12-13 cm. The 2 shoulders are now joined for the front piece. FRONT PIECE: ROW 1 (right side): Work 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-2 – read explanation above, work as before across the right front shoulder, cast on 13-15-15-17-15-17-19 stitches for the neckline, work across the left front shoulder until there are 2 stitches left, work 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-2 = 63-69-71-73-75-77-79 stitches. Continue the pattern back and forth, with the cast-on stitches for the neckline worked into the pattern. When the piece measures 12-13-13-13-13-12-14 cm from the cast-on edge on the shoulder (there is 6-6-7-8-9-11-11 cm left until the armholes are finished), increase for the armholes on each side – read INCREASE TIP-1. Note down which row in the pattern the increases started (so you begin on the same row on the back piece). Increase every 2nd row (each row from the right side) a total of 6-7-7-6-7-6-1 times on each side, then every row (from both the right and wrong side) 4-4-6-10-12-18-30 times on each side. A total of 10-11-13-16-19-24-31 increases in height on each side = 83-91-97-105-113-125-141 stitches. The piece measures approx. 18-19-20-21-22-23-25 cm from the shoulder. Lay the piece to one side and work the back shoulders. LEFT BACK SHOULDER: Cast on 17-19-20-20-22-22-22 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm. Knit 1 row from the wrong side, knit 1 row from the right side. Continue with pattern as follows: ROW 1 (wrong side): Work 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-1, A.1 across 15-17-18-18-20-20-20 stitches; remember the diagrams are worked from left to right from the wrong side. ROW 2 (right side): Work A.1 across 15-17-18-18-20-20-20 stitches, then 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-1. When A.1 is finished, repeat the diagram in height until the piece measures 2 cm, with the next row from the wrong side. Now cast on 1 stitch for the neckline at the end of each row from the wrong side 3 times = 20-22-23-23-25-25-25 stitches. The piece measures approx. 4 cm. Cut the strand and lay the piece to one side. Work the right back shoulder. RIGHT BACK SHOULDER: Cast on 17-19-20-20-22-22-22 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm. When A.2 is finished, repeat the diagram in height until the piece measures 2 cm, with the next row from the right side. Now cast on 1 stitch for the neckline at the end of each row from the right side, 3 times = 20-22-23-23-25-25-25 stitches. Work 1 row from the wrong side so the right and left shoulders finish on the same row in the pattern. The piece measures approx. 4 cm. The right and left shoulders are now joined for the back piece. BACK PIECE: ROW 1 (right side): Work 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-2, work as before across the right shoulder, cast on 23-25-25-27-25-27-29 stitches for the neckline, work across the left shoulder until there are 2 stitches left, work 2 edge stitches with I-CORD-2 = 63-69-71-73-75-77-79 stitches. Continue the pattern back and forth, with the cast-on stitches for the neckline worked into the pattern. When the piece measures 12-13-13-13-13-12-14 cm from the cast-on edge on the shoulder (there is 6-6-7-8-9-11-11 cm left until the armholes are finished), increase for the armholes on each side – remember INCREASE TIP-1. Make sure the increases begin on the same row in the pattern as on the front piece. The front and back pieces are now joined for the body. BODY: Work across the back piece as before, cast on 13-15-17-19-21-23-25 stitches (under armhole), work across the front piece as before, cast on 13-15-17-19-21-23-25 stitches (under armhole) = 192-212-228-248-268-296-332 stitches. Continue the pattern. On the next round decrease stitches under each armhole as follows (to avoid the transitions being loose, the edge-stitches are knitted). Work across the back piece until there is 1 stitch left before the cast-on stitches, knit 2 together, purl the next 11-13-15-17-19-21-23 stitches, knit 2 together, work across the front piece until there is 1 stitch left before the cast-on stitches, knit 2 together, purl 11-13-15-17-19-21-23, knit 2 together = 188-208-224-244-264-292-328 stitches. Continue the pattern, with the stitches under the armholes worked in stocking stitch. Start the round in the middle of the cast-on stitches under one armhole. Insert 4 markers: Marker-1 in the knitted stitch before the first repeat of A.3 on the back piece, marker-2 in the knitted stitch after the last repeat of A.3 on the back piece, marker-3 in the knitted stitch before the first repeat of A.3 on the front piece, marker-4 in the knitted stitch after the last repeat of A.3 on the front piece. When the body measures 6-7-8-8-8-8-8 cm from the join, increase each side – read INCREASE TIP-2. Increase like this every 12-13-13-9-9-9-9 cm a total of 2-2-2-3-3-3-3 times = 196-216-232-256-276-304-340 stitches. Work until the body measures 31-33-34-35-36-37-38 cm from the join, finishing after round 1 in A.3. Cast off loosely with knit. The top measures approx. 49-52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the shoulder. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. NECK: Knit up 76 to 104 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm, around the neckline. Work rib (knit 2 and purl 2) for 1½-1½-1½-2-2-2-2 cm. Cast off with rib. |
