Hello, I'm a little confused about what the instruction given for the back piece, 'work over 4 fewer repeats'', means - do I cut the yarn and move it over, or something else? Thank you!

In chart 1 repeat (1 rapport) is marked, i.e. 1 repeat = 1dc, ch1, 1dc in same st, ch1. When you get to the armholes, cut the yarn, skip 4 repeats and start working as before, then turn when 4 repeats remain on row, now work back and forth as before.

Hi Iris, if you look at the bottom of the pattern page you'll see the diagram. Here are 3 symbols and these are translated in the pattern itself, i.e. chain st = lm, double crochet = fm, treble crochet= st (the order of the = symbols in the translation follows the order of the = symbols in the diagram). This is an old pattern and was translated a long time ago, when Garstudio first started translating their patterns. Looking at it, I realised that the sts were incorrectly translated, so the above is correct (I've corrected this in the pattern itself).Hope this helps, but let me now if you need further assistance. There is no legend for the crochet symbols. It says " =Chain stitch" " =single crochet" etc. Where would I find the symbol interpretations? Thank you very much.

Crochet tension: 6 repeats of M.2 in width / 18 double crochets of M.1 x 10 repeats in height with hook size 3 mm = 10 x 10 cm. 1 repeat of M.2 / 3 double crochets of M.1 = 1.67 cm. Remember hook size is only a guide! Pattern: See diagram. Turn the piece after each row. The pattern is divisible by 3 + 2 stitches ! --------------------------------------------------------------- Back piece: Work 89 (95) chain stitches with hook size 3 mm and denim blue. Work M.1 - see the diagram, turn the piece after each row. Then work M.2 upwards (= 30 (32) repeats including the outermost repeat in each side). Remember the crochet tension. When piece measures 31 (32) cm work over 4 repeats less in each side (= armhole decrease) = 22 (24) repeats incl. the outermost repeat in each side. When piece measures approx. 54 (56) cm work last row as follows: work 6 (7) repeats, cut strand and skip middle 10 repeats (= neck), work last 6 (7) repeats. Piece measures approx. 55 (57) cm. Right front piece: Work back piece first! Work 44 (47) chain stitches with hook size 3 mm and denim blue. Work M.1 - see the diagram, turn piece after each row. Then work M.2 upwards (= 15 (16) repeats incl. the outermost repeats in each side). Remember the crochet tension. When piece measures 31 (32) cm work 4 repeats less in right side (= armhole decrease) = 11 (12) repeats incl. the outermost repeat in each side. When piece measures 42 (44) cm (there are now 13 rows left in height = 13 cm) work neck decreases as follows: Row 1: Work 2 repeats less towards neck, Rows 2, 3 and 4: Work 1 repeat less = 6 (7) repeats on shoulder. Finish when piece measures approx. 55 (57) cm. Left front piece: Worked as for right front piece, but the decreases in the opposite side. Sleeve: Work 38 (41) chain stitches with hook size 3 mm and denim blue. Work M.1 - see diagram, turn piece after each row. Then work M.2 upwards (= 13 (14) repeats incl. the outermost repeat in each side). Remember the crochet tension. When piece measures 5 (5) cm increase 1 repeat in each side every 5th row 8 times = 29 (30) repeats - increase as follows: Beginning of row: After the 4 chain stitches work 1 chain stitch between the two last treble crochets from previous row: 1 treble crochet, 1 chain stitch, 1 treble crochet, 1 chain stitch, then continue with first treble crochet on diagram in the same chain stitch. End of row: After the last treble crochet, continue working in same stitch: 1 chain stitch, 1 treble crochet, 1 chain stitch, 1 treble crochet, then 4 chain stitches, turn piece. Then work according to diagram with first treble crochet down in chain stitch between first and second treble crochet. When piece measures 46 (46) cm insert a marker thread in each side and then work 7 more rows. On the next 3 rows work 4 repeats less in each side on each row. Piece measures approx. 56 (56) cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams and side seams. Work 5 rows of approx. 70-75 double crochets along right front piece. Repeat along left front piece but on row 2 work 7 buttonholes evenly spread by working 3 chain stitches instead of 3 double crochets. Work 3 rows of approx. 95-105 double crochets around neck (work over the bands as well). Sew sleeve seams up to marker thread. Sew in sleeves and sew on buttons. |
