Hei Sonja.

Hi. I'm looking for a hoodie for a 9 year old girl, similar to this one, but I understand that the yarn is discontinued. I'd be happy with DK or Chunky. She's like something with a sparkle/glitter to it in blue - anything you can recommend please? Many thanks.

Knitting tension: 23 stitches x 30 rows with needle size 3.5 mm and Pelliza and stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm. 20 stitches x 32 rows with Tynn Chenille = 10 x 10 cm. Remember needle size is only a guide! Ridge/Garter stitch: 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows. ----------------------------------------------------------- Front piece: The body is worked back and forth on needle as the Pelliza-yarn has a tendency to twist when worked in the round. Cast on 78 (87-92) stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in each side for seam) with needle size 3.5 mm and light khaki brown Pelliza. Work 2 ridges, continue with stocking stitch. Remember the knitting tension. When piece measures 3 (3-4) cm increase in each side: 1 stitch x 10 (12-16): Size 5/6: every 6th row., Size 12/14: Alternately every 5th and 6th row. Size 10/12: Alternately every 4th and 5th row = 98 (111-124) stitches. . When piece measures 23 (25-28) cm change to Chenille Fur print at the same time as you decrease 12 (15-16) stitches evenly spaced on first row = 86 (96-108) stitches. Continue working with needle size 2.5 mm and Fur print. When piece measures 26 (29-32) cm cast off for armholes in each side every 2nd row: 3 stitches x 1 (2-2), 2 stitches x 3 (3-4), 1 stitch x 2 (2-3) = 64 (68-74) stitches. Continue with Fur print until the stripe measures 11 (12-13) cm. Change back to Pelliza and needle size 3.5 mm at the same time as you increase 10 (10-12) stitches evenly on row = 74 (78-86) stitches. When piece measures 38 (44-47) cm place the middle 6 (6-8) stitches on a thread for hood. Continue to cast off for neck every 2nd row: 4 stitches x 1 (1-1), 3 stitches x 2 (2-2), 2 stitches x 1 (2-2), 1 stitch x 2 (1-1). Cast off when piece measures 43 (49-53) cm. Back piece: Cast on and work stripe and cast off for armholes as for front piece. Continue working until piece measures 43 (49-53) cm. Now place the middle 34 (36-38) stitches on a thread for hood. Cast off the remaining stitches. Sleeve: The sleeve is worked back and forth on needle as the Pelliza-yarn has a tendency to twist when worked in the round. Cast on 56 (58-60) stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in each side for seam) with needle size 3.5 mm and light khaki brown Pelliza, work 2 ridges. Continue with stocking stitch. When piece measures 4 (5-6) cm increase in each side: 1 stitch x 12 (18-19) every 7th (5th-6th) row = 80 (94-98) stitches. When piece measures 32 (39-45) cm cast off for sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 3 stitches x 2 (3-3), 2 stitches x 5 (6-7), 3 stitches x 3 (3-4). Cast off. Piece measures approx. 39 (47-54) cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Place stitches from thread at front of neck on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and knit up in addition with Fur print around the neck and over these stitches, so that the total number of stitches is approx. 74 (78-86) stitches - i.e. you knit up 2 layers of stitches over the middle 6 (6-8) stitches. Work stocking stitch back and forth, with 2 stitches garter stitch in each side towards mid front. At the same time on row 1 increase to approx. 100 (106-114) stitches. Work until the hood measures approx. 30 (31-32) cm. Now place all stitches on a thread, fold the hood double and graft the stitches together from the right side. Work 1 row of double crochets with double yarn Fur print and hook size 4 mm in the outermost ridge around the hood. Sew in the sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams in one go. |
