How to knit a simple textured pattern with knit and purl stitches

In this DROPS video we show a fancy but simple textured pattern consisting of just K and P sts.

We have knitted 3 repeats already to show the texture and we have 2 edge sts each side worked in garter st.

In this DROPS video we show you how to work a textured edge on the right side of the piece. We have already worked a section of stocking stitch in the round and begin the video by showing you how to pick up stitches from the wrong side as follows: Find the stitch which lies 2 rounds below the next stitch on the needle, pick up this stitch in the top loop (from the wrong side) and place it on the left needle. Knit together the stitch loop and the first stitch. Repeat to the end of the round. Then continue as described in the pattern, for example with rib or stocking stitch.

In this DROPS video we show how to work an I-cord edge both from the right side and from the wrong side. In this video the 6 first / 6 last stitches after the I-cord edge are worked in garter stitches (= the stitches are knitted on every row). At the beginning of the row from the right side, work like this: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1, work 6 garter stitches. Work stockinette stitch. At the end of the row from the right side, work like this: Work 6 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1. At the beginning of the row from the wrong side, work like this: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1, work 6 garter stitches. Work stockinette stitch. In this DROPS video we show how to work 2 I-cord edge stitches in each side, and at the same time increase in one of the sides. The same 2 edge stitches can be used in garments without increases. For example edges to a jacket. EDGE STITCHES: At the beginning of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. At the end of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left on the row, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1.
