My son is dying for me to make him these slippers. I am having trouble finding the Symphony yarn - Nordic Mart has not responded to my request for it. Any other suggestions for yarn to use? The ones listed as replacements, Vienna and Verdi, are also not available at Nordic Mart. Thank you!

Jeg strikket disse i størrelse 38/40. For det første ble de veldig små i foten selv om jeg hadde riktig stikkefasthet. For det andre holdt det ikke med 100 g av Eskimo. Ellers ble resultatet helt supert

Knitted DROPS slippers in 2 threads in "Symphony" or "Melody" and "Snow".
DROPS 142-25 |

MEASURING TIP: Measure when piece is flat, it is important not to stretch the piece when measuring. -------------------------------------------------------- LEFT SLIPPER: Worked back and forth on needle in garter st, i.e. K all rows. Cast on 28-31-35 sts on needle size 6 mm with 1 thread Snow. Insert 1 marker after 22-24-26 sts seen from RS (6-7-9 sts = toe). Then K back and forth on needle (1st row = RS), but on every 4th row (i.e. every other row from RS), turn before marker so that there are fewer rows on toe. NOTE: Tighten the thread a little extra when turning in the middle of row to avoid holes. Continue like this back and forth until piece measures 8-9-10 cm (measured at the widest). On the next row from RS, cast off the first 14-16-17 sts = 14-15-18 sts remain on needle. Continue as before back and forth over these sts until piece measures approx. 2-2-3 cm from where the sts where cast off (measured at the widest). Now cast on 14-16-17 new sts at the end of next row from WS = 28-31-35 sts. Insert 1 marker after 7-8-8 sts seen from RS (knit up for leg here). Continue back and forth as before until piece measures 8-9-10 cm from where the new sts were cast on, loosely cast off. ASSEMBLY: Pull a thread through the front loop of every st on the toe, tighten tog and fasten the thread. Start at the end of toe and sew the slipper tog edge to edge in front loop of outermost sts under foot and continue up the back of heel to avoid a chunky seam. LEG: Worked back and forth on needle. Knit up new sts for leg with 1 thread in each colour Symphony or Melody on circular needle size 8 mm along the opening of slipper as follows: Beg at marker (mid in the side), knit up from RS in front loop of outermost sts approx. 30 - 40 sts around the entire opening - move the marker to beg of row from RS - knit up band here. K next row - while AT THE SAME TIME adjusting no of sts to 30-34-38. Continue in garter st until leg measures 20-21-22 cm. On next row from RS switch to needle size 6 mm and 1 thread Snow - AT THE SAME TIME work rib as follows: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* and finish with K 2. Continue like this until rib measures approx. 2 cm, cast off with K over K and P over P. Leg measures approx. 22-23-24 cm vertically. BAND: Knit up new sts for band in the side along the leg as follows: With 1 thread Snow on needle size 6 mm, knit up from RS (beg at the bottom of leg from marker) approx. 30 - 40 sts in front loop of outermost sts along the entire leg edge. On next row from WS, P while AT THE SAME TIME adjusting no of sts to 34-38-38. On next row from RS work rib as follows: 2 edge sts in garter st, * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-*, finish with K 2 and 2 edge sts in garter st. Continue like this until rib measures approx. 2 cm, loosely cast off with K over K and P over P. ASSEMBLY: Fasten the band as follows: Place edge A (= edge where band in Snow was knitted) over edge B (= edge without band) - see diagram, fasten band on leg with little stitches. Sew on 4 buttons on band through all layers. RIGHT SLIPPER: Cast on and work as left slipper but reversed. |
