Dag Rianne,

Knitted DROPS socks with fair-isle pattern in ”Alpaca”. Size 35-43

PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Work entire pattern in stocking st. DECREASE TIP: Dec as follows before marker: K 2 tog. Dec as follows after marker: K 2 twisted tog. HEEL DECREASE: Row 1 (= RS): Work until 9-10-10 sts remain, K 2 twisted tog, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work until 9-10-10 sts remain, P 2 tog, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): Work until 8-9-9 sts remain, K 2 twisted tog, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): Work until 8-9-9 sts remain, P 2 tog, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 st less before working 2 sts tog until 14-14-14 sts remain on needle. KNITTING TIP (from socks to leg warmers). If you want to work leg warmers instead of socks follow the pattern below until piece measures 29-31-33 cm BUT do not dec mid back (keep the dec on first and last round in A.2) = 72-84-84 sts. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and K 1 round with dark brown eco while AT THE SAME TIME inc 8 sts evenly = 80-92-92 sts (divisible by 4). Then work rib = K 2/P 2 for 3 cm. Switch to brown eco, work 2 rounds rib, then loosely cast off with K over K and P over P. ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: (READ KNITTING TIP.) Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Read the entire pattern before continuing! Cast on 100-108-112 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with brown eco. Work 2 rounds rib = K 2/P 2. Switch to dark brown eco and continue rib until piece measures 4 cm. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 mm and K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec 16-12-16 sts evenly = 84-96-96 sts. PATTERN: Work PATTERN according to diagram A.1. After A.1 continue according to diagram A.2 – AT THE SAME TIME on first and last round in A.2, dec 6 sts evenly. After A.2, continue with diagram A.3. DEC MID BACK: AT THE SAME TIME on 5th round in A.2 (piece now measures approx. 13 cm), insert 1 marker at beg of round. Now dec 1 st on each side of marker - READ DECREASE TIP. Repeat dec every 6th round 5-8-8 more times. NOTE: Pattern will not fit mid back when decreasing but make sure that pattern fits around the sock otherwise. After all dec are done there are 60-66-66 sts on needle. When piece measures 29-31-33 cm, switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Keep the first 15-16-16 sts on needle for heel, slip the next 30-34-34 sts on a stitch holder (= mid on top of foot) and keep the last 15-16-16 sts on needle for heel. Continue with dark brown eco in stocking st back and forth over the 30-32-32 heel sts for 5-5½-6 cm - insert 1 marker. Then work HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above. After heel dec, knit up 13-14-15 sts along each side of heel and slip the 30-34-34 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 70-76-78 sts. Insert a marker on each side of the 30-34-34 sts on top of foot. Then work in stocking st in the round over all sts with dark brown eco. AT THE SAME TIME dec in each side as follows: K the last 2 sts BEFORE the first marker on top of foot twisted tog and K tog the first 2 sts AFTER last marker on top of foot. Repeat dec every other round 7-9-8 more times = 54-56-60 sts. Continue to work until piece measures 18-20-22 cm from marker on heel (approx. 4-4-5 cm remain until finished measurements). Remove all previous markers and insert 1 new marker in each side so that there are 27-28-30 sts both on top of foot and under foot. Then dec for toes on each side of both markers as follows: Work until 3 sts remain before marker, K 2 tog, K 2 (marker is between these 2 sts), K 2 twisted tog. Repeat dec every other round 3-2-4 more times and then every round 7-9-8 times = 10-8-8 sts remain on needle. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. |
