DROPS Striped Pullover in Alaska

Gauge: 16 sts x 20 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm Rib: * K 2, P 4 *, repeat from * - *. Pattern: See chart (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette st. Knitting tip: To avoid having so many ends to tuck in, carry the yarn up the sides and begin each stripe on whatever side the yarn is on. Begin each stripe by knitting 1 st and twisting the new yarn with the yarn from the previous stripe, to keep the sts and yarn neat. Front: The bottom 4 cm is a rolled edge. Cast on 81-86-92-100 sts with dark brown heather and repeat Pattern 1 in stockinette st to finished dimensions. When the piece measures 42-44-45-46 cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 3 sts 1-1-2-3 times, 2 sts 2-3-3-3 times and 1 st 3-3-2-2 times = 61-62-64-66 sts. When the piece measures 58-60-62-64 cm bind off the center 13-14-14-14 sts for the neck. Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 2-2-2-2 times and 1 st 1-1-2-2 times = 19-19-19-20 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 64-66-68-70 cm. Back: Cast on and knit the same as the front. Bind off for armhole as on front. When the piece measures 62-64-66-68 cm, bind off the center 19-20-22-22 sts for the neck. Then bind off 2 sts at each neck edge on the next row = 19-19-19-20 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 64-66-68-70 cm Sleeve: The bottom 4 cm is a rolled edge. Cast on 41-41-44-44 sts with dark brown heather and repeat Pattern 1 in stockinette st to finished measurements. At the same time when the piece measures 8-8-9-9 cm inc 1 st at each side 13-14-14-15 times: Size S: alternately every 6th and 7th row. Sizes M and L: every 6 rows. Size XL: every 5 rows = 67-69-72-74 sts. When sleeves measures 52-52-52-49 cm bind off for sleeve caps at each side every other row: 3 sts 2-2-2-1 times, 2 sts 2-2-2-2 times, 1 st 0-1-2-5 times, then 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 60-60-61-61 cm, then bind off 3 sts at each side 1 time. Bind off the remaining sts, the piece measures approx. 61-61-62-62 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Neck with rolled edge: Pick up approx. 78 to 84 sts (divisible by 6) around the neck on smaller double-pointed needles with dark brown heather and knit rib for 4 cm . Bind off in pattern. Pick up approx. 78 to 84 sts on the outside of the rib with dark brown heather. Knit 4 rows stockinette st. Bind off loosely. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams. |
