Dear Garnstudio people, I dont understand how the two triangles are joined together, there is nothing in the instruction beside linking them with the strap for the back. However in the pictures it looks link there is an extra 4rows of around 10 trebles in between the triangles, before adding the strap. Is this correct? Thanks a lot!

Buon lavoro!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of each row of treble crochets, replace the first treble crochet with 3 chain stitches. At the beginning of each row of double crochets, replace the first double crochet with 1 chain stitch. CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble crochet is wide. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- TOP - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: First 2 triangles are worked, one for the right-hand side and one for the left-hand side. These 2 triangles are then joined and straps are worked on each side of the triangles (to fasten the top mid-back). A strap is worked at the top of each triangle (for buttoning or tying at the back of the neck). An edge is worked around the top to finish. The top is fastened with 2 buttons mid-back and 1 button (or tied) behind the neck. TRIANGLE: Work 21-24-27-27-32-38 CHAIN STITCHES – read explanation above, with hook size 3 mm and DROPS Safran. Work back and forth as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work 1 treble crochet in the 5th chain stitch from the hook (= 2 treble crochets) - read CROCHET INFORMATION, then work 1 treble crochet in each of the next 15-18-21-21-26-32 chain stitches, work (2 treble crochets, 1 chain stitch, 2 treble crochets) around the last chain stitch on the row, turn, skip the last chain stitch (i.e., the one just worked), work 1 treble crochet in each of the 17-20-23-23-28-34 chain stitches on the other side of the chain-stitch row = 38-44-50-50-60-72 treble crochets + 1 chain stitch. Turn and work back and forth, with 1 treble crochet in each treble crochet on each side of the chain-stitch row, and (2 treble crochets, 1 chain stitch, 2 treble crochets) around the chain stitch at the top of the row. Remember to maintain the crochet tension. Work a total of 11-12-13-14-14-15 rows of treble crochets; on the last row adjust the stitch count to 40-44-48-52-56-64 treble crochets on each side of the chain stitch row (a total of 80-88-96-104-112-128 treble crochets). The piece measures approx. 8½-9-10-11-11-11½ cm from the chain-stitch row. Work 1 more triangle in the same way, but once it is finished, work 4 rows back and forth with 1 double crochet in each of the 8 bottom double crochets. Cut the yarn and sew the 8 bottom double crochets to the left-hand side of the other triangle. Cut the yarn. STRAPS AT BACK: The 2 triangles are now joined and straps are worked as follows: NOTE: Make sure you work from the right side on both triangles! Work 59-68-77-87-96-110 loose chain stitches (= right back strap), then 48-50-53-56-59-62 double crochets evenly spaced across the bottom edge of one triangle, work 48-50-53-56-59-62 double crochets evenly spaced across the bottom edge of the second triangle and finally 59-68-77-87-96-110 loose chain stitches (= left back strap) = 214-236-260-286-310-344 stitches. Continue back and forth as follows: ROW 1 (wrong side): 1 double crochet in each double crochet/chain stitch – remember CROCHET INFORMATION. ROW 2 (right side): 1 treble crochet in each double crochet. ROW 3 (wrong side): 1 treble crochet in each treble crochet. Cut and fasten the strand. STRAPS FOR TYING/BUTTONING AT BACK OF NECK: Work a strap at the top of each triangle: Start at the top of the triangle, work 1 treble crochet in the treble crochet before the chain-space, work 2 treble crochets around the chain-space and 1 treble crochet in the treble crochet after the chain-space = 4 treble crochets. Work treble crochets back and forth for 40-42-44-46-48-50 cm. Cut and fasten the strand. Try the top on and adjust the strap-length if necessary; they will be tied or buttoned at the back of the neck. FAN-EDGE: Start from the wrong side, outermost in the corner of the RIGHT BACK STRAP. ROW 1 (wrong side): 1 double crochet in the first stitch, * 3 chain stitches, skip 1½ cm, 1 double crochet in the next stitch *, work from *-* as far as the right-hand triangle, working 1 double crochet in the corner, and making sure the number of chain-spaces is divisible by 2 + 1. Work to the top of the triangle, then along the strap, finishing with 1 double crochet outermost on the strap, with the number of chain-spaces divisible by 2 + 1. At the top of the strap, work: 1 double crochet in the first treble crochet, 3 chain stitches, skip 2 treble crochets, 1 double crochet in the last treble crochet. Continue working down the strap and along the other side of the right-hand triangle (finishing with 1 double crochet and the number of chain-spaces divisible by 2 + 1), work 1 double crochet, 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet between the 2 triangles, continue working along the left-hand triangle and strap, across the double crochets on the left back strap (with the number of chain-spaces divisible by 2 + 1), finish with 1 double crochet. ROW 2: Work 1 chain stitch and 1 slip stitch to the middle of the first chain-space, 1 double crochet around the first chain-space, * work 5 treble crochets around the next chain-space, 1 double crochet around the next chain-space *, repeat from *-*. Cut and fasten the strand. ASSEMBLY: Sew 2 buttons on the left strap, one outermost and one 4-5 cm down the strap. NOTE! There should be 4-5 cm overlap, so try the top on and adjust the spacing between the buttons if necessary. The buttons are buttoned between 2 treble crochets on the right-hand strap. The straps at the top of each triangle can be tied behind the neck or fastened with a button. Sew the button to one strap and button it between 2 treble crochets on the other strap. |
