After york, i.e. the beginning of the Neck Edge, doesn't the pattern miss a purl round? I can see a ridge in the photos, especially in the 5th photo, but just knitting one round doesn't make this effect, I think.
02.11.2023 - 14:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Micki, if you like this purl round, just purl 1 round after the decreasing round on neck edge, then continue with rib. Happy knitting!

Are the yarn overs in table A.2 worked through the back loop in the next row/round or thorugh the front loop? Judging by the photos of the finisehd object I am not sure if there are intentional holes or not. Thank you in advance!
13.11.2022 - 12:39DROPS Design answered:
Dear Kate, yarn overs in A.2 are not twisted, they are worked as normal so that holes are left, as can be seen in the photo. Happy knitting!

Knitted jumper in DROPS Nepal. Piece is knitted with vents in the sides, leaf pattern, bobbles and raglan. Size: S - XXXL
DROPS 226-33 |
||||||||||||||||||||||
---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.1 and A.2). DECREASE TIP-1 (evenly): To calculate how to decrease evenly, use the total number of stitches decreases are done over (e.g. 46 stitches) and divide by number of decreases to be done (e.g. 17) = 2.7. In this example decrease by knitting alternately approx. every and every other stitch and every other and 3rd stitch together. DECREASE TIP-2 (applies to sides of body): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 4 stitches remain before marker and knit 2 together, knit 4 (marker thread is between these 4 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased at marker thread). INCREASE TIP (applies to mid under sleeves): Work until 2 stitches remain before marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker thread is in the middle of these 4 stitches), make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On next round knit yarns over twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. RAGLAN: Decrease 1 stitch in each side of A.3 as explained below - i.e. In every transition between front/back piece and sleeves (= 8 stitches decreased on round). DECREASE AS FOLLOWS BEFORE A.3: Work until 2 stitches remain before A.3, knit the next 2 together, work A.3 as before. DECREASE AS FOLLOWS AFTER A.3: Slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. CAST-OFF TIP: To avoid a tight cast-off edge when casting off, you may use a larger needle. If this still is too tight make 1 yarn over after approx. every 4th stitch while casting off (cast off yarn overs as stitches). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work from bottom up. Work front and back piece back and forth on circular needle separately until vent is done. Then slip parts together, and finish body in the round on circular needle up to armholes. Sleeves are worked in the round on double pointed needles/a short circular needle, from the bottom and up to armholes. Slip body and sleeves together, and work yoke in the round on circular needle until finished measurements. Sew seams under sleeves when finished. FRONT PIECE: Cast on 122-130-138-154-162-178 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with DROPS Nepal. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Work next row as follows from right side: 2 edge stitches in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* over the next 44-48-52-56-60-68 stitches, knit 2, work A.1 (= 26-26-26-34-34-34 stitches), * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* over the next 44-48-52-56-60-68 stitches, knit 2 and finish with 2 edge stitches in garter stitch. Continue rib back and forth like this – NB: Only the first 2 rows in A.1 are repeated vertically. When piece measures 6 cm, decrease stitches evenly, i.e. on next row work as follows from right side: 2 edge stitches in garter stitch, knit 46-50-54-58-62-70 and decrease at the same time 17-18-18-20-19-22 stitches evenly over these 46-50-54-58-62-70 stitches - read DECREASE TIP 1, work last row in A.1 (= 26-26-26-34-34-34 stitches where decreasing 0-0-0-4-4-4 stitches), knit over the next 46-50-54-58-62-70 stitches and decrease at the same time 17-18-18-20-19-22 evenly over these 46-50-54-58-62-70 stitches, and finish with 2 edge stitches in garter stitch = 88-94-102-110-120-130 stitches. Work back from wrong side with garter stitch over garter stitch, purl over purl, knit over knit. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm. Now begin the pattern, i.e. work next row as follows from right side: 2 edge stitches in garter stitch, 29-32-36-38-43-48 stitches in stocking stitch, A.2 (= 26-26-26-30-30-30 stitches), 29-32-36-38-43-48 stitches in stocking stitch, and 2 edge stitches in garter stitch. Continue pattern back and forth like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 12 cm and last row is worked from wrong side, put piece aside. Work back piece as explained below. BACK PIECE: Cast on the same number of stitches as on front piece and work back piece the same way as front piece until piece measures 12 cm and last row has been work from wrong side. Now put front piece and back piece together for body as explained below. BODY: Slip front piece and back front piece on to same circular needle size 5 mm = 176-188-204-220-240-260 stitches on row. Insert 1 marker thread in each side on body = 88-94-102-110-120-130 stitches between marker threads. Move the marker thread upwards when working - marker threads should be used for decrease in the sides on body). Work first round as follows: * 31-34-38-40-45-50 stitches in stocking stitch, continue A.2 (= 26-26-26-30-30-30 stitches), 31-34-38-40-45-50 stitches in stocking stitch, marker thread *, work from *-* one more time. Continue pattern like this. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 14 cm, decrease 1 stitch on each side of both marker threads - read DECREASE TIP 2 (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 5 cm 4 times in total vertically = 160-172-188-204-224-244 stitches. Work until piece measures 33 cm in all sizes. Approx. 23-25-27-29-31-33 cm remain until finished measurements – try the jumper on and work for desired length On next round cast off for armholes, i.e. work next round as follows: Cast off 3-3-4-4-5-5 stitches, work 74-80-86-94-102-112 stitches as before, cast off 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches (marker thread is in the middle these 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches), work the next 74-80-86-94-102-112 stitches as before, and cast off the last 3-3-4-4-5-5 stitches. Cut the yarn. Put piece aside, and work the sleeves. SLEEVES: Cast on 44-44-48-48-52-52 stitches on double pointed needles size 4 mm with DROPS Nepal. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 6 cm. Knit 1 round while decreasing 4-2-2-2-4-0 stitches evenly - remember DECREASE TIP 1 = 40-42-46-46-48-52 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread at beginning of round (= mid under sleeve). Move the marker thread upwards when working; it should be used for increase mid under sleeve. Switch to double pointed needles size 5 mm. Work in stocking stitch in the round. When piece measures 8-8-8-7-8-8 cm, increase 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 4-3½-3-2½-2-2 cm 9-10-11-14-15-15 times in total = 58-62-68-74-78-82 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 44-42-41-41-39-38 cm (shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of longer yoke). On next round cast off for armholes, i.e. work next round as follows: Cast off 3-3-4-4-5-5 stitches, work 52-56-60-66-68-72 stitches in stocking stitch and cast off the last 3-3-4-4-5-5 stitches. Cut the yarn. Put piece aside and knit another sleeve the same way. YOKE: Slip sleeves on to same circular needle size 5 mm as body, where armholes were cast off (without working the stitches first) = 252-272-292-320-340-368 stitches. Begin round in transition between back piece and right sleeve. Continue in the round as before with stocking stitch and work A.2 mid front/mid back. Work in addition A.3 in every transition between front/back piece and sleeves. The arrow in A.3 shows the transition between back/front piece and sleeve. When 3-3-3-3-5-3 rounds have been worked in the round over all stitches, begin decrease for RAGLAN – read explanation above. Decrease for raglan every other round 21-23-25-26-28-31 times in total = 84-88-92-112-116-120 stitches remain. Jumper measures approx. 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm from shoulder and down. Work neck edge as explained below. NECK EDGE: Knit 1 round while decreasing 8-8-12-24-24-24 stitches evenly = 76-80-80-88-92-96 stitches. Switch to a short circular needle size 4 mm. Work rib in the round = knit 2/purl 2 for 4 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl - read CAST-OFF TIP! ASSEMBLY: Sew the openings under the sleeves. |
