Zur Sicherheitsnadel im Daumen: müsste sie nicht eher von der Daumenwurzel Richtung Spitze gestochen werden, damit ich sie nach dem Filzen entfernen kann? Hier wäre eine Zeichnung hilfreich. Danke

I’ve knitted these in a size small - not felted them yet. They are the size quoted before felting but I’ve used much less yarn than the pattern says - 70g of the grey and 15g each of the red and white. I have a whole ball of yarn of white and grey not touched and can probably get another two pairs out of what I have left! Not sure why you recommend so much yarn. Am looking forward to seeing how the felting works as they are huge at the moment!

Hei.

Bon tricot!

PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Work entire pattern in stocking st. INCREASE TIP: Inc 1 st by working 2 sts in the same st. DECREASE TIP: Dec before marker as follows: Work until 2 sts remain before st with marker, K 2 tog. Dec after marker as follows: Work until st with marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso. ---------------------------------------------------------- MITTEN: Work piece in stocking st in the round on double pointed needles with Lima. Cast on 60-60-66 sts on double pointed needles size 4.5 mm with grey. Work 4 rounds grey. Continue with red – AT THE SAME TIME on next round, dec 4 sts evenly by K 2 tog. Dec like this every 4th row a total of 3-3-3 times = 48-48-54 sts. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION Now work pattern according to diagram A.1 8-8-9 times in total on round. When A.1 has been worked vertically, work 1 round with grey while dec 4-0-2 sts evenly = 44-48-52 sts. Piece measures approx. 12 cm. Insert 1 marker in 22nd-24th-26th st on round (= thumb st). Then work with grey while AT THE SAME TIME inc 1 st on each side of st with marker – READ INCREASE TIP. Inc outside the inc sts every 4th round 5-6-7 times more (6-7-8 times in total) = 56-62-68 sts. After last inc, slip the inc sts + st with marker + 1 st in each side of these sts on a stitch holder for thumb = 15-17-19 thumb sts. Cast on 3 new sts behind the thumb sts = 44-48-52 sts. Piece measures approx. 20-22-23 cm. Continue in stocking st and grey in the round over these sts. When piece measures 5 cm in all sizes from thumb gusset, work 1 round while inc 4-0-2 sts evenly = 48-48-54 sts. Now work pattern in the round according to diagram A.2 8-8-9 repetitions in total in width - adjust to place pattern over A.1. When A.2 has been worked vertically, work 1 round with grey while dec 4-0-2 sts evenly = 44-48-52 sts. Continue with grey. When piece measures 10-10-9 cm from thumb gusset, insert 2 markers as follows: Insert 1st marker in the 1st and 2nd marker in the 23rd-25th-27th st. On next round dec before and after both markers - SEE DECREASE TIP. Dec like this every other round 4-5-6 time and every round 4 times in all sizes = 12 sts in all sizes. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. THUMB: Work the thumb with grey. Slip the 15-17-19 thumb sts on to double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and pick up 3 sts in the 3 inc sts from hand = 18-20-22 sts. Work in the round on double pointed needles in stocking st. When thumb measures approx. 6-6½-7 cm from thumb gusset, dec 2 sts evenly (dec by K 2 tog) = 16-18-20 sts. Work 3 rounds. On next round, dec 6-8-8 sts evenly = 10-10-12 sts. When piece measures 7½-8-8½ cm, work all sts tog 2 by 2 = 5-5-6 sts. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Knit another mitten the same way. FELTING: To avoid the thumb being felted to the mitten, turn it inside out and fasten a small plastic bag/silk ribbon over the top of the thumb with a safety pin. The opening of the safety pin should point towards the tip of the thumb so it is easy to remove after felting. Turn the mitten back to the right side, with the bag/ribbon inside the thumb. The piece can be felted either in the washing machine or the tumble dryer – read description below. Remember: Subsequent washes are as for a normal wool garment. IN WASHING MACHINE: Washing machines will vary when felting. If the piece is not felted enough, it can be felted again. If it is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in the washing machine and use a programme of approx. 40 minutes (not a wool programme). Wash at 40 degrees without pre-wash, detergent is optional. After washing, shape the piece while it is still wet. IN TUMBLE DRYER: Felting in a tumble dryer gives good control over the degree of felting. The tumble dryer can be opened during drying to check the size of the piece. If it is not felted enough it can be thoroughly wetted and felted again. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in water so it becomes completely wet, then place it in the tumble dryer and begin the drying process. Dry to the desired size, checking regularly. |
