Bonne continuation!

Please can you explain ‘ cast off 8 sts towards mid front for neck, do you mean at the beginning of the row where the band starts?

Hi Christine, Yes, the cast off stitches are at the beginning of the row where the band starts. Happy knitting!

DROPS 78-6 |

Tension: Stocking st: 20 sts x 26 rows with needle size 4.5 mm = 10 x 10 cm. Garter st: 20 sts x 36 rows with needle size 4.5 mm = 10 x 10 cm. Remember needle size is only a guide! Ridge (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge of garter st = 2 rows: 1st row: K, 2nd row: K. Decrease tip (for the neck): All decreases are done on RS! Dec inside 5 sts which are worked as described in the pattern. Dec as follows after the 5 sts: Slip 1st as if to K, K 1, lift the slip st over. Dec as follows before the 5 sts: K 2 tog. Crochet border: See diag. M.1 to M.4. Jacket: Front and back pieces are worked separately and are sewn tog, then the crochet border is sewn on around the bottom of the body. The bottom of the sleeves are worked first, then the crochet border is sewn on before completing the sleeves. Back piece: Cast on 76-84-92-100-108 sts with needle size 4.5 mm and Muskat and work garter st. Remember the knitting tension! When the piece measures 2 cm inc 1 st in each side every 2-2-2-2.5-2.5 cm in total 6 times = 88-96-104-112-120 sts. When the piece measures 14-15-16-17-18 cm cast off for armholes in each side every 2nd row: 4 sts 0-1-1-1-1 time, 3 sts 1-0-1-1-1 time, 2 sts 1-2-2-3-4 times and 1 st 3-3-3-4-5 times = 72-74-76-78-80 sts. When the piece measures 30-32-34-36-38 cm cast off the middle 24 sts for neck. Continue with garter st but the 5th st from the neck is worked P on all rows (this st will be worked in ridges but will be displaced in relation to the others and will make a line towards neck). At the same time dec on each side of neck every 2nd row - see Decrease tip: 1 st 2 times = 22-23-24-25-26 sts remain on each shoulder. Cast off when the piece measures 32-34-36-38-40 cm. Left front piece: Cast on 42-46-50-54-58 sts (incl 4 band sts towards mid front) with needle size 4.5 mm and Muskat. Work garter st over all sts, but the 5th st from mid front is worked in P on all rows (this st will be worked in ridges, but will be displaced in relation to the others and will make a line towards the band). When the piece measures 2 cm inc 1 st in the side as for the back piece = 48-52-56-60-64 sts. When the piece measures 14-15-16-17-18 cm cast off for armhole in the side as for the back piece = 40-41-42-43-44 sts on needle. When the piece measures 22-24-26-28-30 cm cast off the 8 sts towards mid front for neck. Continue with garter st and the 5th st from mid front in P on all rows as for the band. At the same time dec towards neck - see Decrease tip: 1 st 4 times every 2nd row and then 1 st 6 times every 4th row = 22-23-24-25-26 sts remain on the shoulder. Cast off when the piece measures 32-34-36-38-40 cm. Right front piece: Cast on and work as for the left front piece but cast off and dec for armhole and neck on the opposite side. In addition, cast off for buttonholes on the band. 1 buttonhole = cast off the 3rd st from mid front and work 1 YO over the cast off st on next row. Cast off for buttonholes when the piece measures: Size S: 1, 6, 11, 16 and 21 cm. Size M: 1, 7, 12, 18, and 23 cm. Size L: 1, 7, 13, 19 and 25 cm. Size XL: 1, 8, 14, 21 and 27 cm. Size XXL: 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 cm. Body: Sew the front and back pieces tog in the outermost loop of the outermost st so that the seams are not thick. Measure around the bottom of the body (the jacket must lie flat so that it does not stretch), take away the width of the bands, the measurement should be approx. 76-84-92-100-108 cm. Crochet border: Work 24 ch (incl 1 ch to turn) with hook size 3 mm and Muskat. Then work M.2, continue with M.3 until the border has the same length as the bottom of the body minus approx.3 cm. Finish with M.4. The border should now be the same at both ends. Fasten the border to the bottom edge of the jacket as follows: Find the middle of the border and start by fastening this to mid back of the jacket - the border should be stretched a little as it is fastened. Sew edge to edge with small invisible sts so that the seam is not thick. Sleeves - part 1: Cast on 50-52-54-56-58 sts with needle size 4.5 mm and Muskat. Work garter st, when the piece measures 9 cm dec 8 sts evenly on row (dec on RS) = 42-44-46-48-50 sts. When the piece measures 10 cm cast off all sts. Crochet border: Work 23 ch with hook size 3 mm and Muskat. Continue to work M.1 until the crochet border has the same length as the cast off edge on the garter st section of the sleeve part 1 (= approx. 21-22-23-24-25 cm). Sew the 2 parts tog edge to edge with invisible small sts so that the seam is not thick. Sleeves - part 2: Cast on 42-44-46-48-50 sts with needle size 4.5 mm and Muskat and work 2 ridges. Now fasten the crochet border to the cast on edge in the same way as part 1 was fastened. NOTE: Due to the pattern the sleeve must now be measured when held vertically, otherwise the sleeve will be too long when worn. Continue to work as follows (seen from RS): * 3 rows stocking st, 1 row P *, repeat from *-* to finished length. At the same time when the piece measures 19 cm inc 1 st in each side every 2.5-2-2-1.5-1.5 cm in total 11-12-13-15-16 times = 64-68-72-78-82 sts. When the sleeve measures 48-46-45-44-43 cm cast off for the sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 2-5-6-8-9 times, continue to cast off 2 sts in each side until the piece measures 55 cm, then cast off 3 sts in each side 1 time. Cast off the remaining sts, the piece measures approx. 56 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeve seams in the outermost loop of the outermost st so that the seams are not thick and sew sleeves to the body. Sew on buttons. |
