Bon tricot!

Hello again. I just asked the question regarding the border for this pattern. The picture I have is not clear so I wasn't seeing it. I just figured it out. M1 and M3 are leaves that make the border as you knit the shawl. I just answered my own question. Thanks for this lovely pattern. I am excited about making it. I like a challenge, and this pattern, with the grafts, gives me one. It is a little difficult to follow, but I'm figuring it out. Thanks, Joyce

Hello, I love this shawl and am attempting to make it. One thing i don't see in reading the pattern is directions for the scalloped border. Is there a seperate pattern for the border? Thank you, Joyce

PATTERN: See diagrams M.1 to M.3. Diagrams show the pattern from RS. GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Worked back and forth on circular needle from the bottom towards the top. Cast on 19 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with 1 thread Alpaca and 2 threads Kid-Silk. Continue as follows (first row = RS): M.1, 1 GARTER ST - see above, M.3. On row 3 inc 1 st each side of the garter st in the middle, and repeat the inc on every 4th row a total of 4 times. Inc by making 1 YO, on next row K YO into back of loop to avoid a hole. Work inc sts in garter st. After 1 vertical repeat of M.1/M.3 there are 27 sts on needle. Insert 1 marker after 12 sts and 1 marker after 15 sts (3 sts between markers = the middle of shawl). Continue as follows (first row = RS): M.1, M.2, (marker), 3 stocking sts, (marker), M.2 (mirrored), M.3 (= 1 inc st in M.2 towards M.1/M3 on every 6th row). Work 1 vertical repeat of M.2 like this and now continue as follows from RS: M.1 (continue as before), P sts on row until 22 sts remain before marker, M.2B, (marker), 3 stocking sts as before, (marker), M.2B (mirrored), P sts on row until M.3 remain, M.3 (continue as before). AT THE SAME TIME continue to inc 1 st towards M.1/M.3 each side on every 6th row as before. Work 2 vertical repeats of M.2B like this. There are now 3 ½ leaves each side with 3 stocking sts in the middle of piece. Continue as follows: M.1 (continue as before), P sts on row until 22 sts remain before marker, M.2C, (marker), 3 stocking sts as before, (marker), M.2C (mirrored), P sts on row until M.3 remain, M.3 (continue as before). AT THE SAME TIME continue to inc 1 st towards M.1/M.3 each side on every 6th row as before. AT THE SAME TIME when you reach the arrow in M.2C (row with arrow included = from WS) cast off the 3 stocking sts in the middle of piece on next row (from RS) and complete each side separately. LEFT SIDE: Continue in M.2C (mirrored) and M.3 at the side, at the same time continue to inc 1 st towards M.3 on every 6th row as before. AT THE SAME TIME cast off 2 sts at the beg of every row from RS. Continue like this until only sts in M.3 remain on needle. Complete M.3 = 9 sts on needle. Cast off. RIGHT SIDE: Continue in M.2C (mirrored) and M.1 at the side, at the same time continue to inc 1 st towards M.1 on every 6th row as before. AT THE SAME TIME cast off 2 sts at the beg of every row from WS. Continue like this until only sts in M.1 remain on needle. Complete M.1 = 9 sts on needle. Cast off. |
