Hi! I have the same question as Mary: "I right that stocking stitch in circular is all knit?if so why does the chart specify a purl stitch in olive if no purl rows are knitted except the first?" Thanks.

Dear Kyra, it's correct, to get stocking st in the round, you will knit all sts, but working M.1 you will work 2 rows with some sts in dark olive, on 1st round you first K the marked sts and on 2nd round, you will P these sts (as for garter st). Happy knitting!

Hallo! Kurze frage: ich habe pro Nadel 8 Maschen und soll über diese 3 cm stricken. Danach Faden durch die Maschen ziehen, damit der Stiel entsteht. Bei mir wird es leider kein Stiel. Was mache ich falsch?

Pro Nadel: 2 Maschen!

So cute - I posted a photo of my finished hat online and was inundated with compliments! I'm going to try and adapt the pattern for an adult-sized head, following requests from friends and family for me to knit them one.

The instructions (at the beginning) say "P 1 round, then work in stockinette stitch." I have not used double pointed needles in many years, and am confused. Your "stockinette" video says to knit every row when using DP needles. But if I do that, the hat is going to have the "wrong side" facing out (the perl side), isn't that so? Because using DP needles, the side that is facing me as I work is the knit side, which is therefore enclosed by the four needles. Thanks for your help!
16.06.2013 - 00:18DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Welsh, hat starts with a P round (P every st in the round), but then you continue in stocking st = working each sts knitwise all the round. Happy knitting!

Her strikker du stilken fra.

PATTERN: See diagrams M.1 and M.2. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round. Loosely cast on 108-114-120 (126-132) sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with red or greypurple (no of sts divisible by 6, distribute sts evenly on 4 double pointed needles). P 1 round, then work in stocking st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 5-5-6 (6-7) cm work diagram M.1 upwards. After diagram M.1 has been worked 2 times vertically, work rounds 1-7 in diagram M.1, then K 1 round with red while at the same time dec 4-2-0 (6-4) sts evenly = 104-112-120 (120-128) sts (no of sts divisible by 8). Piece now measures approx. 13-13-14 (14-15) cm. Then work diagram M.2 1 time vertically, and then finish the piece with dark olive. Now insert 13-14-15 (15-16) markers in the piece 8 sts apart. Then dec 1 st on left side of all markers (by K 2 tog) on every other round until 13-14-15 (15-16) sts remain on needles. Knit 1 round where you decrease 5-6-7-7-8 sts evenly spaced = 8 sts on needles. Piece now measures approx. 18-18-19 (20-21) cm. Work in the round for 3 cm over these sts for "stem". Pull a double thread through the remaining sts and fasten tightly. |
