How do I pick up stitches for the ribbing if I have 50 stitches left on the needle and have to pick up only 108 stitches around the bound off stitches around body to do ribbing? Looks like I would have o pick up a lot more stitches.
25.11.2014 - 14:19DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Novello, if you pick up more sts around the opening, you can then adjust number of sts to 108 sts on 1st round ribbing by working 2 sts tog evenly. Happy kntting!

When picking up stitches for the ribbing, do I pick up stitches on the stomach panel?
25.11.2014 - 14:16DROPS Design answered:
Dear Eleanor, you pick up sts around the whole opening, ie sts from needle + along bound off sts for stomack and the sts bound off each side. Happy knitting!

I am puzzled with the next step of the pattern when it comes to doing the bind-offs to shape the back: How do I bind off 2 or 3 sts at the end of a row. Since it's end of the row, do I just turn to work the next row and bind off the sts at the beginning of the "other" row, which is in between the bind off rows?
23.11.2014 - 14:00DROPS Design answered:
Dear Eleanor, you turn work and cast off the first sts, so that you will cast off at the beg of every row from RS and from WS to get same number of sts bound off each side. Happy knitting!

Ok. Thank you. So I am understanding it to be first row is going to be the first row of the diagram. Then if, for example, the same diagram is being used more than once I move to the next row up. Then when I get to the top of the diagram I just start it over. Is this correct?. thanks and sorry. I am still fairly new to this.
23.11.2014 - 02:47DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Collins, you are correct, when you have worked the last row in diagram, on next row, you start again from row 1. Happy knnitting!

I started this pattern in the extra small size. I am confused when it comes the part that says Size XS. Do I just start that Line and keep going through it? Do I repeat anywhere? It doesn't say to like the other sizes so I am assuming not and I also don't have enough stiches. Am I not supposed to use a place marker?. Thank you.
22.11.2014 - 05:35DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Collins, in size XS work the 76 sts as follows: M.2 (= 4 sts), P2 , M.2 (= 4 sts), P3, M.3 (= 14 sts), M.2 (=4 sts), M.1 (= 24 sts), M.2(= 4 sts), M.3 (=14 sts) and P3. click here to know how to read diagrams - it is recommanded to place a marker at the beg of round so that you know when a new round starts. Happy knitting!

When am I going to get an answer to my question. 'Hopefully I'll figure it out by the time I do. But, with this intricate pattern, I would hate to pull rows out - already did enough of that at the beginning of the pattern. Drops has beautiful patterns but they lose something in the way they are translated and the way the instructions are written. I am an experienced knitter, to say the least, knitting for over 70 years more or less.

Do I knit the first 16sts of the round (size s) and then put them on a holder? I gather this is what I would have to do in order to start the back with the same yarn attached. And, another question, will I have to eliminate 1st from M3 chart at the beg and end of each row?
15.11.2014 - 16:01DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Novello, you can knit the 16 sts first before putting them on a st holder, then cast off next st, work the remaining sts on row, turn and cast off 1st P st seen from WS - make sure when you work back & forth that cables will be worked then on a RS row. Happy knitting!

I just put 16sts on a holder (size S - (underneath the stomach). Now, do I turn my work to go back and start knitting back and forth on the rest of the sts still on my needle and cast off 1st at beg and end of row? It's very hard for me to understand what is being done, there should be a schematic drawing to explain the construction of this sweater.
15.11.2014 - 15:23DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Novello, in size S you put the first 16 sts on a thread for underneath the stomach (they will be worked later), cast off the next P st, work the next st on row, turn and cast off the first P st seen from WS, you have now 1 st bound off each side of st holder = opening for legs. Happy knitting!

When pattern says to repeat from *to* twice, it should be once, because there are not enough stitches in the row to repeat between *s twice. When I read through the comments below I saw how you explained to someone how to get the correct stitches for the pattern, and it's not a "repeat twice" as the pattern says. And from all the comments I read, it's not going to be easy at all.

Just got to the part where I start using the diagrams. Why does m2 have fewr rows than the others. What happens when you reach the top of one and only midway through the others?
04.11.2014 - 23:57DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Mark, all diagrams do not have same number of rows to repeat in height. When you have worked last row in diagram, start again from 1st row on next round. Happy knitting!

Gjenta rundt den andre åpningen. |
