CROCHET TENSION:
22 treble crochets in width and 11 rows vertically = 10 x 10 cm.

CROCHET HOOK:
DROPS CROCHET HOOK SIZE 3 mm
Hook size is only a suggestion! If you have too many stitches on 10 cm switch to larger hook. If you have too few stitches on 10 cm switch to smaller hook.

EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

PATTERN: 
See diagrams A.1 and A.2.

CROCHET INFORMATION:
Replace first treble crochet on round with 3 chain stitches. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in third chain stitch from beginning of round.

DECREASE TIP:
Decrease 1 treble crochet by working the next 2 treble crochets together as follows: Work 1 treble but wait with last pull through (= 2 loops on hook), then work next treble but now pull last yarn over through all 3 loops on hook.

INCREASE TIP:
Increase 1 treble crochet by working 2 treble crochets in same treble crochet.

HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Work in the round top down.

HAT:
Work 5 chain stitches on hook size 3 mm with Cotton Light and form a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch.
ROUND 1: Work 11 treble crochets in ring – READ CROCHET INFORMATION!
ROUND 2: Work 2 treble crochets in every treble crochet = 22 treble crochets.
ROUND 3: Work * 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, 1 treble crochets in next treble crochet *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 33 treble crochets.
ROUND 4: Work * 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 2 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 44 treble crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
ROUND 5: Work * 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 55 treble crochets.
ROUND 6: Work * 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 4 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 66 treble crochets.
ROUND 7: Work * 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 5 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 77 treble crochets.
ROUND 8: Work * 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 6 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 88 treble crochets.
ROUND 9: Work * 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 7 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 99 treble crochets.
Then work differently in the two sizes as explained below:

S/M: 
ROUND 10: Work * 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 10 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 108 treble crochets. 
Continue to work 1 treble crochet in every treble crochet until piece measures approx. 11 cm from the top and down.
Work next round as follows: Work A.X over the first 4 stitches (A.X shows how round begins and ends), then work A.1 the entire round (= 27 repetitions on round including A.X).
When 1st and 2nd round in A.1 has been worked (i.e. 2 rounds with fans), work 3rd round as follows: * 3 treble crochets around chain space in treble crochet group, 1 treble crochet before next treble crochet group *, work from *-* the entire round – remember CROCHET INFORMATION! Continue to work treble crochets in the round with 1 treble crochet in every treble crochet until piece measures approx. 16 cm from the top and down. Work brim as explained below.

L/XL:
ROUND 10: Work * 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 8 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 110 treble crochets.
ROUND 11: Work 1 treble crochet in each of the first 2 treble crochets, * 2 treble crochets in next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 17 treble crochets *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 116 treble crochets.
Continue to work 1 treble crochet in every treble crochet until piece measures approx. 13 cm from the top and down. 
Work next round as follows: Work A.X over the first 4 stitches (A.X shows how round begins and ends), then work A.1 the entire round (= 29 repetitions on round including A.X).
When 1st and 2nd round in A.1 has been worked (i.e. 2 rounds with fans), work 3rd round as follows: * 3 treble crochets around chain space in treble crochet group, 1 treble crochet before next treble crochet group *, work from *-* the entire round – remember CROCHET INFORMATION! Continue to work treble crochets in the round with 1 treble crochet in every treble crochet until piece measures approx. 18 cm from the top and down. Work brim as explained below.

BRIM:
Work first round as follows: Work A.Y over the first 4 stitches (A.T shows how round begins and ends), then work A.2 the entire round (= 27-29 repetitions on round including A.Y).
When A.2 is done (after 9 rounds), fasten off.

= 3 treble crochets + 2 chain stitches + 3 treble crochets around chain space in treble crochet group
= 3 chain stitches (= 1 treble crochet) + 3 treble crochets + 2 chain stitches + 4 treble crochets around same chain space, finish round with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round.
= 4 treble crochets + 2 chain stitches + 4 treble crochets around chain space in treble crochet group
= 3 chain stitches (= 1 treble crochet) + 4 treble crochets + 2 chain stitches + 5 treble crochets around chain space, finish round with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round.
= 5 treble crochets + 2 chain stitches + 5 treble crochets around chain space
= this round has already been worked and show how 1st round is worked
