Rib: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from * - *.

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.

Knitting tips-1 (for armhole):
All decs are made on right side rows.
Dec 1 st as follows:
After 2 garter st edge sts: sl 1, K 1, psso.
Before 2 garter st edge sts: K 2 tog.

Knitting tips-2 (for neck):
All decs are made on right side rows. Make decs inside 3 edge sts (which are knit as follows: K 1, P 1, K 1). There are 2 different decs, 1 with a yo that creates a hole and 1 without a yo.
1st dec (with yo):
Before 3 edge sts (5 sts on needle): yo, K 3 tog.
After 3 edge sts: Sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, yo.
2nd dec (without yo):
Before 3 edge sts: K 2 tog.
After 3 edge sts: sl 1, K 1, psso.

Front: Cast on 102-110-122-134 sts loosely on larger needles. Change to smaller needles and knit rib for 2 cm, keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st throughout. Change to larger needles and stockinette st. When the piece measures 12 cm dec 1 st at each side every 8-8-5-5 cm a total of 2-2-3-3 times = 98-106-116-128 sts. When the piece measures 34-35-36-38 cm bind off 3-4-5-6 sts at each side for armhole. Then dec 1 st every other row - see knitting tips-1 - a total of 8-9-12-16 times. After all shaping is complete, knit the 2 edge sts in garter st and the rest in stockinette st to finished measurements. At the same time when the piece measures 40-41-42-43 cm bind off the center 4 sts for the neck - bind off on a wrong side row with K sts. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 15-15-16-16 times inside 3 edge sts - see knitting tips-2. Keeping the outermost st in garter st throughout, alternate the 1st and 2nd decs – there will be 8 holes along neckline. After all neck shaping is complete, continue to knit the 3 edge sts in established pattern to finished dimensions. Bind off the remaining 21-23-23-24 sts each shoulder when the piece measures 54-56-58-60 cm.

Back: Cast on and knit the same as the front. Bind off for armhole as on front and knit until the piece measures 52-54-56-58 cm. Then knit 2 rows garter st over the center 32-32-34-34 sts. On the next row (wrong side row) bind off the center 30-30-32-32 sts for the neck. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row a total of 2 times. - see knitting tips-2 – use 2nd dec both times. Bind off the remaining 21-23-23-24 sts each shoulder when the piece measures 54-56-58-60 cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew a small st in the bottom of the neck to keep it neat. Sew side seams. Pick up approx. 104 to 112 sts around armhole (pick up sts from right side inside the 2 edge sts in garter st) on smaller double-pointed needles; join and knit rib for 2 cm, then bind off in pattern.

Note: For best results, wet block the sweater.
